It seems like Florida is one of the powerhouses who continually play a cupcake non-conference schedule. The trend developed over the last decade was for big programs to have some big home and home series with other power programs. For as long as I can remember Tennessee has always scheduled a tough non-conference foe(Notre Dame, Cal, UCLA, Oregon and I believe Ohio State is in the works).

Ohio State usually plays a tough game (Texas, USC). Alabama with Satan had the Clemson game and now VT. Georgia is starting to as well. Pretty much any elite program will play a big time game.

Why not Urban Meyer? It seems he enjoys scheduling Charleston Southern etc. I guess Troy 'could' be considered a trip up game but realisticly I dont see it like that.

Maybe I am just misimformed but does anyone know of any up coming games Meyer has scheduled or will he continue to play the Mcnesse States of the world?

BTW, Gator fans don't defend yourself with Florida State.

Not a fan or quick to defend the Gators but it seems their master plan is working.

I despise the Gators and everything about them. However, I don't understand how you can say don't bring up FSU. I have always enjoyed the "big" non-conference game that UT schedules (Notre Dame, Miami, Syracucse, UCLA, etc.). But the Vols have also played Louisianna-Lafayette, MTSU, UTEP, Western KY, Pacific, and others along the way. I think with 8 conference games, each SEC team should schedule two lesser opponets as warmup games and 2 tougher opponets to showcase the SEC dominance.

And im sure dont bring up UM as well? Funny they still wound up with the #2 SOS last yr though and are still in top 15 or so annually.

But you're right..i hope they step up soon :eek:lol:

if they wup butt and win national championships every year, does it really matter, I mean if they beat the powers of the sec, do you really think they would lose to a good non- conference opponent?

It works for them, we've been down this road before. They're doing something right, their trophy case would suggest it.

UF has nothing to prove by scheduling a tough OOC.

They seem to do a good job of beating the hell out of highly ranked OOC teams at the end of the year, most of the time. Wasn't Oklahoma the most prodigious offense ever last year, and Florida held them to 14? I don't think Florida has anything to prove right now.

I knew someone would bring that up. I said most years. The fact remains they have won two titles in three years, and may get another. They have nothing else to prove to any objective observer.

Oh they still have something to prove and that is that in every game in a whole season that they left the field as the better team that day. That is something they have NEVER done although they have a legit shot this year I'd say.

I would have a lot more respect for them if they scheduled some REAL teams for OOC play and actually play some outside the state of florida for a change....I mean scheduling Miami is awesome for them and they should continue that however they WON'T as that is just the Gator way....Last year was the first time since moby dick was a minnow they have beaten Miami so they really do not want to press their luck scheduling them too much...Would sure bring a lot more prestige to the conference if they would schedule teams like Notre Dame or a Pac 10 school once in awhile...But alas, it will be the Citidel and Northwestern kentucky st or something along those lines...Sad....Very sad
