...start to look and sound like the forum did after Dooley's third- and fifth-game losses to Florida and Georgia in his THIRD season? Will we give CBJ as much time to adjust as we did Dools? Will VN members give up, turn their backs, hate the players, hate the coaches, fight with each other? Will the numbers of CBJ supporters start to dwindle rapidly as they are called all sorts of names by the growing crowd of frustrated fans expecting greatness too soon? After UAB, we have tough games against UGA, USCe, and Bama. What will VolNation be like if we lose all three of those? And make no mistake, this season will probably look very much like all of Dooley's seasons.

I'm no football guru, but even I saw that Worley's was by far the better QB on paper. While Worley was averaging over 10 yards per completion and a 61% completion rate, Peterman was averaging fewer than 7 yards per completion and a 50% completion rate. Worley had more experience and is a bigger athlete. The only trump card we might have held was that Peterman would be more mobile, a dual-threat QB. But dual-threat QBs do not phase teams like Florida, who practice five days a week against dual-threat QBs. Normally, a betting man would think swapping them would be a terrible idea, but I...like most of you...thought it was a great idea. Turned out we lost that bet. Badly.

God I hope we aren't seeing the beginnings of a repeat of the Dooley years. Can we realistically chalk this up to the fact that CBJ is working with players Dooley recruited? Is it really that simple? Or is there something more fundamental going on here? How can the fan base, and specifically VolNation members, play a role in changing the course of this team?

People are fatigued after a decade of performance that did not meet expectations. Every time we hit the reset button the patience level is going to be less than it was for the previous guy. I agree that Butch Jones will need 4 or 5 years to try to right the ship, and I use word try because I have no idea whether he can do it and anyone who claims as a certainty that he will is just blowing smoke. We did not get the desperately needed yet elusive big name homerun hire to restore faith and unite the fanbase and now we have no choice but to once again hope for the best while watching our team get its tail kicked in. I'm pretty numb to the losing and sloppy play so I think I can hang in there for the ride however it plays out while others are going to reach their personal breaking point and make declarations like the poster who says he's done after UF.

It doesn't matter (sort of). I will have my butt in my seats pulling for the BIG ORANGE. I want to see W's. The fans will demand W's. I remain convinced that the W's will come sooner than many expect. Will there be "fans" that call for another coach? Absolutely. Will they be right? Absolutely not (yet).

When somebody like Alabama can show noticeable improvement in year 2 and have the ship righted in year 3 by hiring Nick Saban, everyone knows it CAN be done.

after dools, everybody was asking "where is OUR Nick saban that we so rightfully deserve?"

Is it Butch Jones? Won't know til year 3, and as bad as this team is right now, it might easily take year 4 or 5. In any case, CBJ will be here 5 years.
