With this year's celebration of UT basketball, are there plans to release a commerative dvd of Vol basketball history and its greatest players/shots? Our basketball history has been totally ignored in the past by UT's video/dvd marketing department.

I was at the Belmont game today and they started to show the highlight of UT beating American in the Vol classic in the early 1980s when Carter stole the inbounds pass and shot it from halfcourt. They stopped the video tonight before it played for some reason. I really wanted to see that footage again (the only time i've seen it was live and in person as a 7 year old).

I hadn't thought of that. A 100 Years of UT Basketball DVD would be a good idea.

Dale Ellis, Michael Brooks, Fred Jenkins, Vincent Yarborough, Isiah Victor, Ron Slay, Allan Houston, Tony White, Dyron Nix, Reggie Johnson, Chris Lofton, Jujuan Smith, Steve Hamer, Rob Jones, Howard Wood, CJ BLack, CJ Watson, Steve Ray, Dan Federman, Greg Bell, Ian Lockhart, etc.

Even though we weren't winning titles most years, we did have some really good teams and some great players. It would be nice to relive some of those moments from yester year during this 100 celebration.

Would be pretty cool. I am not much on the DVDs though. I do admit, it is fun to be in JC Penney when they have the Vol videos playing...I will stand there and watch for a few minutes.

Yeah, Dyron Nix belongs on the all century team simply because of his hair alone.

I just hope they can find room for all 8 minutes of decent basketball UT played during the Houston Error.

I'm just not sure what criteria would be used since, let's face it, UT and men's basketball aren't synonymous with any stretch of the imagination.

Hopefully, the DVD doesn't include this season, or it may end up in the bargain bin at Walmart.

We lead the series with Memphis. Then again, this debate isn't worth my time.

What exactly does that have to do with the history of UT basketball. 100 years = 3 S16, 0 E8, 0FF. U of M is only 97 years old and has tons more success than UT. No one outside of Knoxville or Memphis knows, or cares, what the head to head record is. Ask them who has the more decorated program, and see what answer you get. All in 1/2 the time and with 1/10 the $$.

UT has been playing BB for 100 years. U of M school is only 97 years old.
Memphis has fielded a team since 1920.

I find it humorous that some UT fans think there is enough UT basketball history to warrant a DVD, however, I find it even funnier that a Memphis fan is commenting on it. Win a national title sometime and then you can balk at this.

Even funnier that you require a NC of Memphis to comment, but your S16 history warrants justification as a "Historic" program.

I have not referred to UT basketball as an historic program. KU, UK, UNC, Duke, and UCLA are historic basketball programs. Memphis and UT are not...although, Memphis is still living in loser denial.
