All,

With the announcement that WMG is gone, who is covering Texas? I assume we are out of it now for Dixon and Loften?

Is Lance Thompson going to burn down the Sports complex and put a computer virus on before he heads? Just kidding, that last sentence is to show how it could be worse for the sky is falling people.

We now need 4 more coaches including a DC.

The WR coach hire was an upgrade over Kippy.

It seems like we are ignoring the West Coast for the most part.

With WMG leaving, we need a stronger Texas connection than "I covered the state for La Tech" and without Gran we need someone with strong ties to Florida.

I hope in our 4 hires we have at least 1 more star recruiter, because right now we look staff wise like we are going to finish consistently below in recruiting:
LSU,
Auburn,
Alabama,
Florida and possibly
UGA

and if that is the case, no matter what Dooley does in terms of coaching guys up, we will not be the championship program we want.

It only shows WMG landed Hunter which is a big one. However, I think Dooley and Thomspon did the in home visit with Hunter. WMG was recruiting other guys not committed and that will probably affect some of those guys. Hopefully we don't actually lose any already on board due to this.

oh noo  were screwed..

We will be fine. Lowest paid coach on the staff @ 110k.
If we want to keep him we will pay him..

Relax. Terry Joseph and Eric Russell can cover Texas. Russell was at Texas Tech, I think he knows the lay of the land.

Seemes Willie Mack Garza packed his bags in the middle of the night and simply left town. Doesn't sound like he had much, if any, communication with anyone before bolting the situation. He has not returned texts or calls from VolQuest.com the past 24 hours.

Joseph was going to replace Garza at some point anyway! Chaney and Thompson were the only one that were retained and given a title, it just looked like Garza might stay.

I dont think that this will hurt us too much. Doubt we get Ahmad Dixon now but I didnt really feel like we would before. I have a feeling that this was something CDD wanted as I'm pretty sure he brought in Terry Joseph to be our DB coach.

Russell has a reputation as a great ST coach.

Can you point me to where he has a reputation as a great recruiter of Texas? I am hoping such evidence exists I just have not seen it.

Id rather have someone who can recruit Louisiana or Florida over Texas. Texas is damn near impossible to steal kids from the Big 10. WMG didnt pull anyone from Texas for us anyway and barely had us in with anyone there as well so no big loss IMO unless Hunter decides to change now but I dont see that happening.

He coached at North Texas for 13 years and TT for a year. I am not sure how good of a recruiter he is, but I am sure both schools recruited Texas heavily and is at least known by some of the schools.

Garza's big commit, Hunter, committed during an in-home with CDD. If Garza was that good, why'd he wait for CDD to commit? Why is this a big deal at all considering all the other coaching hits we've taken recently? WMG? Who cares?

Even if Russell can't get it done in Texas, Dooley and Joseph can. It won't be a problem.

Exactly, Russell is all over Texas. We don't need 2 coaches to recruit Texas.

FYP. You're right. We're not going to be pulling many recruits out of Texas anyway.
