Can we talk about how insanely hard it will be now to actually win a national championship? Not just for UT but anyone especially in the SEC or B10.

Imagine you're Georgia sitting as the #1 ranked team. All you have to do is:
1. Play 6 top 25 teams
2. Play another top 25 team in the SECCG
3. Then play 3-4 more top12 teams

And it's not just UGA it's going to be a gauntlet for all contending teams from now on. You're looking at playing around 4-6 top ranked teams on average before the post season every single year. Thata nuts and it really makes it easier for teams to sneak up on you and win a big game if your team is worn out and injured and someone from say the ACC or B12 wins it all.

It's going to be so tough from now on IMO.

I think it is going to be harder for an SEC team to win. The new scholarship limit may help but with the transfer portal, it's harder to stock pile talent as well.

One team has to do it. Just like every year
Sure, but WHO that team will be is going to be a lot harder to predict than in the past and increases the odds that a team that isnt as deserving (based on schedule) will be the winner.

I'm also fairly sure the era of being undefeated is all but over.

Still a lot less parity in football than in baseball or even basketball. With basketball, the g5 team knocking a top SEC or B1G team out in round one would be a distinct possibility; in baseball, it would be almost routine. In football? Likely never or only very rarely going to happen.

And it isn’t like you have to make it through the gauntlet you outline unscathed. The 12-team playoff creates more hurdles in the postseason, but gives more margin for error in the regular season.

Been doing it in the lower divisions for years. NCAA Basketball, NCAA baseball, softball, among others all have a championship tournament where you play a rough schedule, then have a rough tournament.

Disagree. The SEC is basically NFL Jr. Too many teams top to bottom, that top tier. Now, with the new playoff format, we're less likely to eliminate ourselves out of a chance to play for the NC. I think we now make it harder for other conference teams to win a NC. We're a gang of bad MOFOs.

There will still be only 5-6 teams each year with a real chance.
That is true but there will be increased chances for an upset or a team with lesser talent (TCU for example) to have a shot. Currently, there are only 3 active coaches that have won it all in Smart, Mack, and Dabby doofus. I don't know about you but it will be a terrific sight to see that list change. Perfect time for Heupel to add his name to that list.

Anything can happen but my guess is the NC will always be a top 4 seed.

I don't think most people realize that the bar has been raised for what is the perception of a competitive team due to the transfer portal. The last 2 years power 5 teams have filled in all of their deficiencies and created depth, especially in the SEC. The level of play each week will be much tougher, schedule tougher and the playoffs a lot tougher.

Any team that gets to and then runs the gauntlet of the playoffs is a worthy champion.

See. This is messed up. The goal is winning the SEC. Do that and all the doors open. The first goal should always be that. Save the "Natty" talk for the end of the season because it's pointless if we are third or forth in the SEC. I always hated the term 'Natty'. It sounds like a babies' diaper. Give me the Championship.
