im with ya, although i do think we score a little bit more, i have a feeling our guys will be pumped and shoot better than they have recently. plus, after the last 2 shooting performances and ccm calling them out surely they have been in the gym. im talking to you TATUM and MCBEE!

The key is to have a good, solid first half.

no the only comparison i can think of is #1 memphis at memphis. that was a program changer.

The win over Texas was bigger for the program. It came out of nowhere and was Pearl's first marquee win. We were ranked #2 for the game against Memphis. Really not much higher you can go.

i suppose. i saw the texas game as almost being considered a possible fluke, you know the type that all programs get once in awhile. when they played memphis they had been relevant for a few years and to me becoming #1 for the first time in histroy said something about this school, that we are capable. i guess everyone has their own definitions but IMO that win made people look at the program and just say WOW, they could be a potentail perinnial top team. then of course we blew up but thats besides the fact.

I'll cry if we win.

i'll admit i cried after lofton's 3 over durant and we won( i was there so that's part of it), and when we beat memphis and became number 1. oh and i also cried when we beat kansas, thats probably the hardest cry of the 3, what that team overcame absolutely tore me up. i almost tear up thinking about it.

I hope you know I was referring to the fact I dont think it will a close game til the 5 minute mark. I think it will be a very very close game. 1 or 2 pts.

happy?

you need some serious work on being more clear in what you are trying to say, if in fact this is what you actually meant and you arent just doing a 180.

It won't. I think it'll be close till about five minutes and you'll pull away. 12 point win for you, probably 70-58.

this is about what i would expect - if Stokes/Maymon can get physical with them and push them around on the inside we have a shot but the kittykats are incredibly talented this year and I think will be wanting to prove last game was a fluke and get into Stokes' head so id say around 12 or so is about right

Just being bluntly honest, with the momentum we gained over the last few tough road games, we should come back into Rupp and probably win by 18-20. If Jones brings the A game that he had against LSU and mans up against Stokes instead of shy away, then it's case closed.

However, I can see the same scenario repeating itself as others have already posted, close game and we stretch it to 9-12 points over the last 6 minutes.

UT has to avoid the turnover laced scoring droughts in order to stay in the game. They absolutely failed to show up against Vandy last week. Let's hope they learned from it.

this is going to be an interesting round 2 between these guys.

Terrence Jones quote today on rematch: "I dont think he really made that big an impact"

round these parts them sound like fighting words.

With the talent we have on this roster, we really shouldn't try to "change" our game plan, meaning that we dictate and make other teams play our game. However, it would be prudent to send Jones, Miller and Gilchrist straight at stokes multiple times in the first half and put him on the bench with fouls.

uk wouldnt be the first team to try that. every single team since UK has made that their gameplan coming out of the gates, and didnt try to hide it. vanderbilt went as far as to put ezeli on him instead of goulbourne, ezeli tried to get into stokes head fouling him hard and talking smack, none of this got him in foul trouble. the kid is very mature for his age and i would be very surprised if he werent able to stay composed, although rupp is a crazy place(refs dont help). as i remember it though jones was the one to lose his composure last meeting and get into foul trouble. as i said this should be very interesting, im sure cal will try to take him out early, it'll be interesting to see if he's succesful in doing so.

The Vols are definitely capable of making this game competitive for at least the majority of it, but we just got creamed at Vandy. This might be a single-digit game, but a loss by 20+ is far more likely than a nailbiter.

Granted, Vandy had quite a bit of revenge built up. We swept them last year during our dysfunctional NCAA-clouded season.

I was at the 1999 and 2006 wins at Rupp. I was also at a few bad losses, including the 2002 game that UT blew. Since 2006, the only games I have seen at Rupp were the 2007 NCAAs, which featured UofL-TAMU and OSU-XU in the 2nd Round.

Bet that was a fun game to watch live.

1/10/1976 (#9) Tennessee at Kentucky L 88 - 90 OT
I can't properly describe to you youngsters how wonderful this win in 1976 at Memorial Gym was. Down 14 with 7 minutes left and then Bernard King worked some serious magic, including a bank in with his butt nearly on the floor. UK fans from that era still probably suffer from that one. They got us back, though. I think it was in the early 80's that we had a 10 point lead there with about 1 minute left and lost in regulation.
