Never thought I'd say this, but why can't we just have these dadgum games on ESPN's and SEC Network, etc?.....I've resigned the fact that the big 3 (NBC, ABC, CBS) only carry so much anymore......but nowadays you HAVE TO have ESPN+, Peacock, Hulu, Fubo, Netflix, Ballys Sports, Jim's Local Community TV of Idaho, etc just to watch your teams........this is getting crazy.

(Rhetorical question fyi......I know its all $$$ driven.....just makes you realize you spend almost as much as you did with cable)

Right. There is a B1G Network and an SEC Network, so it’s on Peacock. Makes total sense. 🙄

I have it. Not watched a live event on there but I do watch some of their tv offerings. I prefer streaming services because I get to choose what I want. I had 300 channels before and watched 19 of them. Every major streaming service I need, combined, was half the price of television alone for me.

I will say this, it's very rare, that if you want to look, that you won't find games with someone streaming them on youtube.

I keep seeing the commercials being mentioned, but it's a live basketball game. Shouldn't commercials be expected in any format/platform for a live sporting event?

There are different tiers of Peacock service. Premium does not have commercials for most shows and some live events

I honestly would prefer commercials. Dead air during a live-event is so weird. YouTube TV does this zen like bird chirping occasionally and to me it is just odd.
Yep, growing up with commercials in the background as you talk about plays or go to the fridge. It is just the normal noise, and yes the dead air is weird, I agree.

On some services they don't show commercials during the breaks. But there's still a break.
Interesting. As @TheMookieMonster said, YTTV does something similar with mature sounds. Just seems like a distinction without a difference if your paying extra for no commercials during a live event. Mute button does the same thing, I'd think. And it's free. 😀

Right, I get it. I just didn't know if people were expecting expedited game play or something without the commercials, which would obviously be impossible. It seems like an odd option to pay extra for during a live game event.

So, can I just sign up for Peacock and cancel after the game ? Worth the $5.99 for a month's service in order to see the game.
This is what I did. Just signed up and immediately cancelled the recurring subscription. I’d obviously rather it have been on something I already pay for but $6 is better than missing the game or having to listen to on the radio.

It’s kind of weird since the Big 10 Network is affiliated with Fox Sports and Peacock is an NBC/Comcast media property. Maybe the conference rights package only comes into play when the teams are both from that conference and the individual schools get to make their own deals for the out of conference games.
