You know as well as anyone no players were bought. Penny wasn't the coach and Wiseman wasn't a recruit when this happened. Your comment is an example of Memphis living in your head. Let it go.
Penny was lobbying for the job for a couple of years. You are correct - Wiseman helped seal the deal with admin. I live outside of Memphis and unfortunately the only sports talk is out of Memphis. This had been in the works for several years.Penny's name had been thrown out there when Tubby was hired. Penny knew that it might come up again, and James Wiseman was a key to him getting the job. This isn't just my opinion; it's been openly discussed.
Sounds like you’re a Penny apologist. He got caught lying and starting a fued with a well respected future hof coach for no reason. Quite frankly, Penny is a low life with a lot of money that will be unsuccessful during his stint at Memphis. This is step 1 in his demise. And we will see about that supposed beat down next month. I hope Tennessee sweeps Memphis and never does business with the school again.True. It wasn't a good look for Schofield to strut around saying Memphis was our town though. Caused a lot of bad feelings. Probably going to cost us a beatdown next month.
Basilio has been making a pretty good argument to set Wiseman free. The NCAA just let some Ohio State football player that took money have his eligibility back. The NCAA looks the other way for Bill Self, Roy, Duke, LSU, Auburn, and others and hammers guys like Bruce and Donnie.

What a truly stupid take. The ascendency of our program under Barnes and the perennial Memphis little brother syndrome are more than enough to light their fire, so forgive me if I don't think Admiral Schofield's actions are going to have any effect on this year's game. The motivation will always be there.True. It wasn't a good look for Schofield to strut around saying Memphis was our town though. Caused a lot of bad feelings. Unless I missed something, Hardaway moved the kid and his family to Memphis to play for the high school team he (Hardaway) was coaching at the time. The TSSAA thought it looked shady at the time. Not saying it affects what the NCAA can or will do, but it does affect our understanding of Hardaway. Which is to say, sure sounds like buying a player. You know as well as anyone no players were bought. Penny wasn't the coach and Wiseman wasn't a recruit when this happened. Can you believe all the Memphis apologist in this thread? At this point it’s the lesser of two evils. I question the NCAA as much as the next guy and if this were an NCST or even Miss St, I’d say heck yeah, stick it to the NCAA. But it’s not, it’s memphis and I’m “rooting” for the NCAA on this one.No players were bought. Ok. The earth is flat too.
I have read message boards from North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas. It is interesting that they, like basically the rest of the country, is supportive of Memphis and Wiseman's efforts but that we are so antagonistic.
Memphis really lives in our heads doesn't it?
