Would it be unfair to suggest that if a player is receiving NIL/Benefits and he transfers, that they should be on the hook for a percentage of what was provided to them?
It’s no different if your company sends you to school, get certifications, relocation, etc. - for a period of time, you are required to stay with the company or reimburse them for the expenses incurred if you leave. Of course, the dynamic is different since it’s not the school paying them directly…
Of course, what would likely happen is the destination school will just pay him X amount more, but it might cut down on some of the transfer madness for everyone but the top players. I’m not sure what the solution is, but the whole charade of “student athlete” is ridiculous.
