I wonder how bad pearson's injury really is? He was announced out last week. Is Saulsberry back this week?

Doubt he will be much of a factor. Any injury on the leg takes a toll for a while, and we need more help blocking than receiving.

Butch said that Wolf and Helms are back to full speed, and Josh Smith might play this week. It will be huge to get Wolf and Smith back.

Great news. How about we throw him the ball upfield, in a seam somewhere in the middle of the field, vs. a linebacker, rather than throw to him exclusively in the flat where a smallish DB can blow up his knee (again)?? Just a thought.

This may sound like a bad knock on Pearson but I think Wolf is a bigger key than Pearson. Worley likes tto target him and Helm was overmatched against OU. He could make the difference in whether UT can pull off an upset.

Smith? I thought his was a high ankle sprain. How could he be ready this quickly?

If Smith and Wolf are full speed this will help Worley a lot. I think that Malone is ready to get a lot of play now. Maybe we get Pearson back for the UF game.

I'm going to need evidence to believe this

Josh Smith's Status and Other Vols Injury Updates

Butch Jones updated several injured Vols’ statuses on Monday.

Here’s what we know as far as statuses for the Georgia game.

WR Josh Smith (ankle sprain): Day-to-day; has not been ruled out for Georgia game.

WR Von Pearson (ankle sprain): Ruled out for Georgia game.

TE Ethan Wolf (bruised knee): Full go; will play against Georgia

TE Daniel Helm (ankle sprain): Full go; will play against Georgia

RB Derrell Scott (foot): Practicing; questionable for Georgia game.

Not having Von Pearson available will obviously be a big blow for the Vols.

It will be even worse if Josh Smith isn’t available.

The Vols were able to “get by” without Pearson against Oklahoma, thanks to Smith.

If Smith can’t go, true freshman Josh Malone should see an increased role.

The good news for Tennessee is that tight end Ethan Wolf will be back. The Vols received no production from their tight end position with Wolf out of the lineup. They’ll definitely need him against Georgia.

As for Derrell Scott, well Butch Jones said a decision would be made later this week as to whether or not Scott will travel with the team to Athens.

Helm helps the OL but he doesn't fix it. Smith playing would be awesome, but if he isn't 100% I would love to see him provide depth behind Malone. I think Malone is a gamer and is obviously talented. Would be a big spot for a frosh in Athens, would love to see him get the chance.

Awesome news! Wolf has really been a key piece in our offense this yr. To bad Pearson isn't ready for GA.
