this team needs to learn how to finish. Total domination of bama for first 30 minutes of second half--and numerous squandered opportunities. Moore and Owens have good speed but their decision-making is suspect and they futz too many chances. Gotta put the ball in the net. Also, UT needs a taller keeper.

We beat bama in OT but should have won the game 4-2 in regulation, and we came close
to losing a game we largely dominated. UT has good attacking players, and plays at a high tempo--but is too frantic in the attacking half and doesn't translate pressure into quality scoring chances because they don't combine well and so opportunities are constantly futzed away. The team rushes and doesn't make good passes near the other team's box. Same thing against vandy--we were in their half lots more than they were in our half, should have won the game but could only score 1 goal. It's a problem.

With the way things at UT are right now I will take ANY win over bammer and get a little excited about it. This made me forget about the fiasco at Neyland Stadium last night for a good 10 seconds!

:pExactly what I thought about the football team against Florida Saturday.

How do you figure that UT "needs a taller keeper"?

Eckel has allowed four goals ALL SEASON and holds the UT record for longest scoreless streak. She's one of the top two keepers in the SEC, so I'm wondering why you find her height to be such a problem.

Your wasting your time with this guy. This is the same guy that went on and on about how McCullers was too big to be any good.

As for our soccer keeper, she's fine but keepers are almost always on the tall side for obvious reasons. Also, their stats are very much dependent on the defense in front of them. You can be an excellent keeper but have poor numbers because the defense in front of you is bad. And the reverse is true. UT has a pretty good defense, which helps Eckel. Offense/scoring is a problem--against decent competition we can't manage more than one goal. There is talent but need more organization, combinations, and better passing. Too frantic.
