Wonder if CCM would give Seagears or other Rutgers players a look

I personally know Seagears from a Summer League i helped coach up in NJ. Kid is a great player/kid and I would love to see him in Orange.

Also, Myles Mack and Eli Carter are two scoring guards we could really use. Both can score in bunches and hit shots from anywhere on the court.

They also have some solid big men in Derrick Randell, a big body at 6-8, 240. A little raw but great upside. Kadeem Jack, 6-9 225, Austin Johnson, 6-8 250, and former Kansas State transfer/ McDonalds All American/ 5 star Wally Judge, 6-9 250.

Im not sure if you can transfer twice though, so Judge may not be an option. Also, im sure most of those players wont choose to transfer, but just wanted to give a little breakdown if they do decide to leave the program.

One last thing, Judge and Vincent Garret, 6-5 210, are two of the most athletic kids i have ever seen. Heres a video to show you a little bit of that athleticism...Wally Judge and Vincent Garrett Put On A SHOW At Rutgers 2012 MidKnight Madness! - YouTube

I may be wrong but I read that CCM doesn't even recruit players once they commit to another school. If true, I would doubt he would go after ones who are already on a team...unless they openly said they were looking to transfer....That said, I'm no recruiting expert.

The article quotes they are going to transfer

The issue would be these guys are going to have to sit out a year, unless the NCAA gives a waiver for all Rutgers players which I see as unlikely. We are only going to have room for probably 4 next year, and we are in on some very good talent. So do you take a transfer with the possibility of not having room for a guy you have been spending a lot of time recruiting.

You dont think the NCAA will give them a waiver? I gotta believe they wont have to sit a yr.

The NCAA didn't get involved, they didn't force Rutgers to fire him, that was the schools choice. In the past when waivers were given it was because of postseason bans typically, and there's nothing of that sort with Rutgers.

I can't think of any instance where a school canned a coach for nothing NCAA related and waiver for all players on the roster were given.

Not to get too off track but let's look at Bruce Pearl's recruiting for a second. If that transfer can make a huge impact on your team --then hell yes - you go after him and try to get him. I have yet to see the first Parade All - American that we didn't have room for. Coach Martin is in the "winning games" business and in so doing -retaining his job -- so to not go after an "elite" talent that is available would be negligent or bad coaching imo. Was Tennessee better by taking Prince, Maymon, and others?

Uh yeah.

See your point. I guess I am assuming the NCAA will view Rice's actions as bad enough to allow the players to transfer. And yeah we get it that Rutgers fired him. But these video's are just now being made public. Once these kids start filing for waivers on the transfer, I feel like the NCAA will make an exception. Its just a feeling though, guess that could be something else.

Are they leaving because of the firing or because he was a POS ?

Think a couple were leaving already because he was a POS. And the other guys just announced. And what a POS he is huh.? Wish my coach would have tried throwing balls at me... LOL "wish a motha *&%$*& would be in my seat!"

Why would they announce a transfer when they don't know who the next coach will be?

Probably dont want to play for a university that was going to keep the guy as a coach, even after finding out how he was treating players. If the ex assistant(cant remember his name) hadnt released these videos, Rice would probably still be there.

Seagears, Mack or especially a healthy Eli Carter would be a huge get for some team. If Tennessee could ever get their hands on any 1 of these kids Carter in particular with an unlikely waiver we are talking Final4 and potential Nat. Champ. for Tennessee in 2013-14.

You have to also wonder if the NCAA will slap Rutgers with the institutional control problem considering the people who knew what was going on.

Any word on if these Rutgers guys are gonna get a waiver to play immediately?

From what I am hearing it is looking like that they will get a waiver to play immediately. Also on a side note. Eli Carter the shooting guard from Rutgers looking to transfer will probably visit Aubbie the same time Seagears will.

The NCAA should make a ruling on the waiver ASAP, it would greatly affect their recruiting...a lot more schools would get involved if they can add a guy who can play immediately.

This I agree with totally.Making kids sit out a year does cause alot more schools to waiver on them. You have to think with kids such as Seagears and Carter who are extremely talented I think the likes of the Kansas,Duke,NC,AZ etc would be involved. But since their is that possibility of not being immediately eligible causes them to shy away. I think that whomever lands these 2 if they decide to transfer to the same school together which is a possibility will have one of the most talented backcourts is the country.
