Woody Paige, a respected and highly opinionated veteran sports columnist, matches wits with the equally respected columnist Skip Bayless every morning live on ESPN2s national morning show Cold Pizza (M-F, 8-10 AM, ET). Paige and Bayless attack the 10 biggest sports stories of the day in multiple segments beginning with the lead-off segment called 1st and 10. These segments re-air later in the day on ESPNs 1st and 10 (M-F, 4-4:30 PM, ET).
A native of Memphis, Paige began is career as a sports columnist in with The Whitehaven Press in 1963 after graduating from the University of Tennessee. He later went on to cover politics for The Knoxville Journal and civil rights for The Memphis Commercial Appeal and The Rocky Mountain News. Paige joined The Denver Post in 1981. Over his thirty-five year career, Paige has covered sporting events in over 22 countries. His resume includes Super Bowls, 12 Summer & Winter Olympics, over 18 World Championship Fights, as well as the World Series and the NBA & Stanley Cup Finals. A recipient of more than one-hundred local, state and national media awards for column writing and sports stories, Paige is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee and is a Baseball Hall of Fame and ESPY Award voter.
Paige is also regular contributor to ESPN's "Around the Horn," and ESPN's Classic's Emmy Award winning SportsCentury series. His work has also appeared in The Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, Newsweek, Time and Street and Smith. He is also the author of seven sports books. He is involved in more than twenty-four charitable events annually and currently serves as Chairman of Fund-A-Cure of the Children's Diabetes Research Foundation.
