Years ago we were watching the Bama game on TV together. It was in knoxville tied 6to6 time was running out. We had a FG attempt to win. It was blocked and returned. Moments later Bama kicked the winning FG. I was mad as..... Old Slice got up turned off the TV and said "let's go throw the ball". I asked how he could be so calm. He said he was hurting for his brothers on the hill but tommorow they will get up and get ready to kick ass and so will we.
Grandpaw was wise and a national champion Vol from the 50s.

I miss the old coot

Still firmly believe Butch will win here and a lot. Glad the 18 year old commits we have see it and believe it too!

I bet Jones will read this and use it along with his brick by brick and it's a process talk he will be doing the next few days.

WTF do you want man? We lost. It sucks I know. So you want to fire him and this staff....get set back 3 more years and lose all these top rated committed kids we have? Seriously? Glad the recruits aren't so ignorant as most this fan base.

good post Slice. I hated this game and was fuming inside. Felt my face burning a little. Went outside, took a few breaths, chuckled at how angry my little son was getting because it reminded me of myself, then went back and and we've had a great night.
I think a lot of people are pretty tough to the people around them on nights like tonight at times because I was one of those people. It's human nature.
Again, good post.

The real program in trouble right now is in Gainesville Florida...

It pains me to say this, but not really. They have quite a bit of talent, and are already in some prime recruiting real estate. They've already got half the battle won.

That was 1 of the first Vol games I ever seen. It looked like BAMA would beat us for years after that game.

I completely agree. But I do hold to the fact that we have a ways to go, yet the trend is upward. This was a great college football game. No one gave up. Those kids played tough. We've got a ways to go, but Vandy won't get us again for a long time.

Let's take UK to the woodshed and end this on a high note.

He would think I'm glad we have a coach who's bringing in players to get this crap turned around. Probably say nobody can make chicken salad from chicken ****!!!

Actually he probably would say "my boys played their hearts out" or "you can't polish a turd"
On days like today I really miss him.
