For the past month I have been running atleast a mile to a mile and a half a day and doing some light weights. I have recently really started changing my diet as well.

Breakfast:
2 Eggs and Whole wheat toast or Cereal.
Lowfat yogurt and a banana.
Somedays a protein bar.

Lunch:
Usually a turkey sandwhich on whole weat.
Chips and salsa and an apple
Water to drink.
Sometimes I'll try one of the lean couisine meals.

Dinner:
A Protein and a vegetable.
Usually a grilled chicken salad with light italian dressing.
Protien drink.

My main question is about the protein drinks. Myoplex or Muscle Milk. I got the low carb Myoplex and it was horrible. What is really considered low carb? Muscle Milk light has 12 carbs as compared to the Myoplex low carb with 3 cars. If there are others feel free to suggest.

My goal weight is 240lbs.
I am currently 6'5 306lbs.

Thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Interesting.

Well, carbs aren't necessarily bad. But I would recommend this one: 100 pct Whey Protein Powder

It only has 3g of carbs and is relatively low in calories. I drink it with skim and think it tastes good, like carnation instant breakfast.

The 12 carbs in Muscle Milk light is too high, you have the shake for the protein so you want as few carbs in it as possible. You can try optimum nutrion whey protein (chocolate taste great). Your diet looks really good, you can also have a protein shake in between meals if you would like. Good luck on everything! Bodybuilding.com has some decent prices, I am sure some of the other guys can give you website/protein reccomendations.

We use Muscle Milk or the equivalent product from The Vitamin Shop which is cheaper than GNC prices. Muscle Milk generally has less of the "scary" stuff that people want to avoid. That said, zinc, magnesium and vitamin D help with recovery and you can find them in a bunch of different products.

This link provides some good tips and the diet tracker is a pretty useful tool. The food is a bit fancy for my taste, but it gives you an idea.

Are u running on a treadmill? If so make sure you do a sprint, jog walk combo. Better than just a straight jog.

I go 20 mins on a treadmill twice a week and jog at 6.5 for about 10 mins. Sprint at 7.8 for 8 And walk for 2. Not all consecutively but just in intervals.

No treadmill. Also I was told wheay protein wouldnt be good to take with a meal. Was told it absorbs the food protein. Thoughts?

I have never heard that, but sounds like what u are doing is fine.

Just make sure you stretch well, and keep it up. Missing a week makes it hard to go back.

I workout w a trainer once or twice a week and it's great.

Would it be best to take a protein shake after my workout in the morning, and then right before bed? Those are the most recommend times I see on the supplement's websites.

Also, I am looking more for weight loss than muscle building right now so should I stay away from the whey proteins? If so, any suggestions on where to find some?

It would be best to have a protein shake after your workout. I would not stay away from them. By taking in lean protein (boneless skinless chicken breast, whey protein and other lean protein), complex carbs and some healthy fats you should keep losing weight. Protein helps to build muscle, but it can also help with weight loss. Just depends on the amount of calories you eat and helathy foods.

Protein is protein & the only thing that absorbs it is your body. The thing is you don't want to do is consume 100g of protein at one time. Spread smaller meals out throughout the day. Drink a protein shake between meals as a snack or something. If your trying to lose weight maybe have a shake at breakfast with some oatmeal & wheat toast & one at night before bed. Honestly if you're goal is primarily on losing weight then the focus should be on setting up a diet & workout routine that allows you to burn more calories than you consume. A protein shake isn't that necessary & would be better used as a meal replacement like slim fast.

gaining muscle obviously burns calories, but it helps improve metabolism
