Can someone let me know a pros and cons list working for the University of Tennessee System (offices downtown) in the Department of Technology Solutions?

Any information or insight would be great.

Thank you.

Welcome to Volnation! And welcome to Tennessee!

I can recommend restaurants in Chattanooga, but that's all I got. 😁

Have you info on benefits? Do they include tickets to sporting events or discounted tickets? That would be a plus vs similar private industry jobs.

Pro: you have a job in Knoxville.

They have great benefits as far as PTO/Sick leave/etc. things like that. It's mostly a remote job, which I like. I'm not sure about tickets?

All the tbh schools are great to work for but once you get in the triple figure income politics come into play you gotta watch every single thing you do if you teach or I should say over staff etc as use you can get ripped in a minute if you make a decision that higher ups don’t agree with but as far as just a regular job not teaching I’d say it’s awesome opportunity. Not me son I’m talking about.

My wife worked for UT. The benefits were pretty standard for health, retirement and time off. They did offer discounts on tickets for at least football if I remember. You basically saved not having to donate to buy tickets the way I remember it. Big deal was education savings. You and your immediate family could get half price tuition. Saved thousands in one year for the youngest that was at UT.

Discount on tickets has been reduced and you have to donate now as well. All of that changed when they went to the new pricing model. Also, employees get free classes (tuition waived, but you still have to pay fees) and families get half price tuition. Halfway to my 30 years at this point so I will probably stay since I am in the old pension plan. Not sure I would stick around if I was in the newer one and a little younger.

ETA: I work on UTK campus, but I believe it is the same benefits. Pretty sure it is as far as education, not so sure about the football tickets and stuff.
