World Series: Texas Rangers vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Two words, one name: Jack Buck.

I lived in Missouri one year and spent a whole summer listening to Jack Buck broadcast Cardinals games on the radio while I worked in a pizza place. He was everything that his kid is not. Possibly the best baseball broadcaster I've ever heard.

Joe Buck broadcasts every game -- from a throwaway May game between the Mets and the Dodgers to the Super Bowl -- with the excitement of somebody squinting through a window at a game he doesn't care about on a bar TV and describing the action to a buddy of his over the phone.

I can't believe dusty roads' cousin Arthur is still pitching. Is oil can boyd still around too?

The most mystifying thing in American sports might be Joe Buck's career. How the hell is this guy the #1 announcer for both baseball and the NFL for a major TV network? I'd seriously rather listen to a game called by the three Daves from Jefferson Pilot sports.

Proves sucking your way to the top works. Always.

I'd even consider a Maxine Waters trade.

The only thing you can go on is reaction. Umpteen umps and not one saw the immediate reaction?

Horrible.

You don't just look at reaction! One of the main things you look for is a change in trajectory of the ball and there was none. I saw it live and no way you could see it. Saw replay in the room and as little as it touched I have no problem with the call.

Buck/McCarver is the worst thing about the WS. After hearing his Scrabble comment, I'm convinced that Tim needs to hang 'em up.

That did hit his foot right?

With the infrared camera you could see that it nicked his toe. Regular replay you couldn't tell. I saw it live and it didn't look at all like it hit him. The balls trajectory never changed and went as straight as can be towards 3rd.

Yet you have no idea that's how he got his job.

I personally think he is one of the best in the business. Obviously, those that matter think the same as well:thumbsup:

whoa. You think Joe Buck's gig has nothing to do with bloodline?

Didn't say that. NY stated he had sucked his way to the top. No doubt being the son of a legendary broadcaster helped, but the younger Buck does quite well in both baseball and football. He might have got some breaks because of his Dad. Being the the top play-by-play man for Fox was well earned.

It's all about opinions. It seems like a majority on this site hate almost all the guys on TV for one reason or another. I like Buck. His voice is made for play-by-play

Yeah, wtf. I didn't really follow anyone closely this season since the Astros blew but it looked like Wilson had an awesome season based on his numbers. He's been getting smoked in the postseason.

I read something about him leaving as a free agent and Rangers going after CC. Maybe they can get CC and keep CJ. Seeing as his value has probably dropped millions of dollars with his postseason performance

Yeah, CJ is losing millions with every post-season start. I'm thinking someone will throw dumb money at him and Texas will lose him.

False.

It's cold again tonight but thank GOD it's dry and not as windy. But who gives a Sshhiitt. It's the Series baby! GO BIRDS!!!
