this about an hour ago.

Justin Worley ‏@WorleyBird_14 1h

Everything happens for a reason

TFWIW but it sounds like change somewhere in his life whether it's at QB or something else.

I recall seeing him on the sideline and Riley Ferguson comforting him. While I could be reading too much into it, Worley had a look on his face that told me he knew -- it was heartbreaking to see that look. I still think Worley has tons of potential in a lot of areas but he's going to have to work even harder to develop it. The prior staff really hurt him, imo. I still believe he can do well here although he may or may not be the starter.

Where is the Witch Doctor? Someone get him in here and have him do a bone reading or something.

It's a changing of the guard. It hurts, but it's time. Best of luck to the young man.

And he's now deleted the tweet. Poor guy has to be in a rough place emotionally whether it's his thumb, the QB job, or something we don't know about.

I appreciate Worley and everything he has done for our program but I'm affraid he just got the "Wally Pipp" deal.

The "Wally Pipp" deal is not a true legend. Wally Pipp actually was playing poorly and was replaced by Lou. It wasn't due to an injury. The story about the injury just makes the story more intriguing.

Also, Jordan was not cut from his high school team as a sophomore. He simply didn't make the varsity squad and remained on the j.v. team. He dominated j.v. that season and grew a couple of inches in height in the summer and made the varsity his junior season. Another old wives tale.

Good grief! He has greatly improved and while I liked Dobbs play, it was in a game that had already been decided. A QB don't just go on the field a play, there is a ton to learn.

Regardless of what happens with Worley, we'll always think well of him. He's been a good leader and manager. He helped us break our ranked loss streak. He was the caretaker of the program, and all fans should be grateful for him no matter what happens.

Yep, also the oft-told legend that Einstein failed math; that one is ridiculous and not even remotely true.

I have nothing but respect for the guy. He did what he could with the talent that God gave him. He's a tough SOB that didn't give up. Add to that, he's a nice, smart kid and a good leader and he gave his all for Tennessee every day. No one can ever take what he's done away from him...he's just not cut out to be an SEC QB. If this is the end of his starting days at UT, then people should tip their hat and say thank you because the guy is a VFL.

Maybe he was just down on himself? He is human like the rest of us. He deleted it just after an hour had passed. :dunno:

At any rate, twitter says Jones' 11.30 press conference will actually happen at noon.

Any other opponent or Coach, yes. But Saban had AJ in and throwing with 6 mins left. He just sent a message to students for not staying, he left starters in and they played just as hard the second half. Dobbs played well against a D going all out. It wasnt like UT didn't have receivers open most of the first half and game. There was bad passes, late passes, Downs falling down in the first hslf. Fact is Dobbs is more accurate and has the arm to complete passes Worley can't. Nothing against Worley, you can only work with the tools you are blessed with.

You can say the Alabama D was playing "all out" but there's no way they weren't comfortable with the huge lead they had.

Dobbs may be the real deal, but it's a completely different situation to start a game than to come in after the game is decided; Dobbs had little to zero pressure on him.

So was Worely when Peterman started. Prob giving Mizzou something to think about, prob why the tweet went down so quickly. Would be shocked if Dobbs doesn't start.

You may be right, but I wonder how different the reaction would have been if Dobbs was in the starter slot. Would people have speculated that it was a smokescreen to bait Mizzou into thinking Worley was hurt?

He's always played kind of tight and very tentative. As has been observed, it looks as if he had been told to hand off or throw the ball. Anything to stay healthy and prevent a freshman from burning a redshirt. Not that it's done, we might see another Worley when his thumb heals. Maybe the chains come off and he's free to make a play on his own when the opportunity is there.
