Worley showed a lot of grit, hustling for a first down, he was really moving, didn't look slow at all, and then fight off 2 blockers to make the tacle on the interception, excellent effort
Yea. Only problem is Worley keeps the ball about once per game. That doesn't cut it because it doesn't keep the defense honest. It is called the option read for a reason. Worley got his chance. He will now take his place next to Peterman. Like the guy, but this is life. He did what many young boys growing up in TN only dream of - play QB at UT. He will be fine.
I wasn't necessarily saying Worley>Dobbs. I was addressing the fact that people had already written him off and had Dobbs without a doubt starting without any confirmation.
He did .. Peyton played at UCLA but Helton was the started through the FL game I believe
Peyton's first start was a win over Washington State
For all the people who don't like Worley and talk crap about him are crazy. This young man has gave it everything he has for our program. He's always had a good attitude and work ethic. He is a true VFL
and I'm very glad he is a VOL. I don't think its over for him by far. I don't think the previous coaching staff got him off on the right foot if Butch had been here for his whole career I believe the sky would be the limit for Worley.
He is the next QB and he is going to be good. Get over it. He was recruited to run it. Ferguson wasn't. Ferguson was a Dooley recruit and CBJ simply honored his scholarship. You will see soon that a few Vol fans simply understand football, players, and offensive systems better than others,,, such as yourself. Sorry to be so blunt, but it's annoying how many idiots there are in this forum.
While I don't think this will happen - largely due to CBJ's philosophy/schemes....
But plllllllllllllleeeeeaaaaassssssseee....
Don't do to Dobbs what UT did to Shuler. Don't try and convert a mobile QB into a pocket-passer. Let him roll out and then:
1. Pass down field for a large gain
2. Take the safety pass to the TE or slot for a modest gain
3. Pitch the ball to the RB
4 or run like his arse is on fire.
Please CBJ, don't get too predictable with a talent like that.
For somebody to be so blunt, you sure dont have many facts straight. Ferguson has been ahead of Dobbs all season. Ferguson was in a walking boot almost the entire week and that led to Dobbs getting the nod. Dobbs very well might take his opportunity and run with it and never look back. If he does, great! But Dobbs has had accuracy problems in practice and Ferguson seems to have a stronger arm and is a more polished passer. Not to mention, the difference in running ability of Dobbs and Ferguson is minimal. Dobbs is not a burner by any stretch. CBJ does not care who recruited Ferguson. He will play the QB that gives him the best chance to win games. The QB battle between Dobbs and Ferguson is in its infancy and you are claiming its over and Dobbs has won? Ha, and you are calling other posters idiots!?!
I like the kid, but "the sky would be the limit?" Come on... the knock on Worley is that there is only so much room for growth, and that has more to do with his talent ceiling than coaching. He was an across the board 3* prospect coming out of high school, and he's a 3* QB in college= good, dependable type that you develop into a game manager, not a star.
That's not bashing him or knocking him, but he's very similar to AJ Suggs or even Rick Clausen- a dependable and serviceable qb who can get the job done with talent surrounding him.
Worley was National Gatorade Player of the year his senior year in HS. Must have been a pretty good player and can still do the job. Jones wants to win more than any person and he will do what he thinks it takes to win games. Most of these are-chair quarterbacks don't know anything about football and have never seen a practice at Tennessee. They are also the creeps who swore some NFL color person would be our coach.

Curious where you get your information from...
Every beat writer that has actually watched practices and who takes what reps with what groups. They have repeatedly stated that Ferguson was ahead. As well as posters on TOS. Plus Ferguson warmed-up and prepared to go into a game earlier in the season, but was then not needed.
There has never been a single word or action from a coach involved with UT to ever indicate that Ferguson was ever ahead of anybody until Saturday when they put Dobbs into the game. This is a fact you have to get through your head. I stated on a post yesterday something that nobody can argue with. Take all the media types and sycophant posters and everything they actually know as to what has been going on inside UT practices after the media is escorted out. And collectively they do not know as much as the worse player on UT's roster. In other words, they didn't know d-squat , but they had to fill up air time and line space with whatever wild speculations they could. Ferguson was never ahead of Dobbs or he would have played Saturday. And no, he wasn't injured so bad they couldn't put him in. If that were the case he wouldn't have been in pads. Period!Every beat writer that has actually watched practices and who takes what reps with what groups. They have repeatedly stated that Ferguson was ahead. As well as posters on TOS.
