Hi all, SIAP and buried in some other threads, but:

--how and when exactly did Worley injure his thumb? IIRC, he started the Bama game with his thumb in a splint/sleeve, and

--what exactly is the injury? (fracture, sprain, etc.)

:hi:for any details, and thanks to Justin Worley for representing UT through some difficult years. I don't think his collegiate career worked out the way that he had hoped, but he has represented himself well throughout, and I for one appreciate his work.

Worley Sustained the injury when he hit his hand on a SC defender's helmet. As far as the severity, I really don't know.

On a serious note.

He hit his thumb on a guys helment while he was in throwing motion during the SCAR game(He reinjured it during the bama game) and it's hard for him to get a full grip on the ball sometimes. He could have played the second half of Alabama but CBJ decided not too.

thanks! :hi:

Butch Jones also said he expects Justin to be a full go in practice this week.

Sounds like a sprain or similar soft-tissue injury, then, instead of a fracture. thx

Cost him his starting job IMO. To be fair, I don't think he was ever 100% in this game.

I also don't think we've seen the last of Worley this season. I think we may see both QBs from now on depending on the situation.

I was interested to see if he would trying throwing with the gloves, and I thought I heard Verne and Gary mention something about it during his warmups. Could be wrong.

A non mobile QB with a thumb injury in his throwing arm - Disaster!

That one int where the ball just went off his hands could cost us the game against teams like Missouri and Auburn if at all we have a chance at winning.

One other thing could cost us against teams like Missouri and Auburn, a freshman QB that makes a major mistake in a game.

Worley isn't "non mobile". He's looked good running each time he's done it. IMHO, they have told him not to pull it on the read option to avoid an injury because they did not have a back up. They wanted to RS both Fr and Peterman is hurt.

With Dobbs' RS gone, there is no more reason not to run him. We'll see what happens but I will be disappointed if Worley starts and fails to run a few times on the read option. They need that to open things up for Neal/Lane and also to take advantage of Mizzou DL's tendency to overpursue.

Can't be any worse than a junior QB making major mistakes in a game...you know, like throwing INTs

Oh... but it can. Remember UF?

Worley playing with an injured thumb had two picks against the starters for the best D in the country...

Mizzou ain't close to Bama personnel wise so I fully expect either QB to perform well. BUT managing the O and getting the team into the right play is a HUGE factor. Dobbs has to do that at a high level.
