First of all, i was(WAS) a huge he-who-must-not-be-named fan. After they left i find it kind of hard to just blindly put my trust in Dooley. That being said i think he will be great with parents in recruiting, but a little worried about recruiting as of now(not as much if we get DaRick.)

Im sure I will be killed for this, but two 4* two 3* and a 2*. Now im not one of those people say if he isn't a 4* or 5 * I dont want them. I think thats pretty stupid and uneducated. Now asking Dooley to get just four and five star guys right now is asking way two much. He has had nowhere near the time and relationships to do that.

Just wondering a few things about Dooley...One is he the kind of recruiter thats gets the Big names and a few two's and three's * or one that is gonna get a few big names and mostly try to find diamonds in the ruff or potential overlooked guys. Thoughts? Im not sure i got a bead on him yet.

And you won't have a bead on him until after the 2011 NSD. This year he is going after as many of the big names as he can without the long term recruiting he needed and will fill the class with guys he thinks his staff can "coach up." After next years NSD when he has a full year to recruit, you may know more about his strategies in recruiting. Then again, with him playing things like Saban(as close to the vest as he does), you may not know then either.

I think he's a 2, 3, or 4 star kinda guy when he's got to get about 10 recruits in 3 weeks. :)

I'm sure he'll do better next year when he has more time.

He gave an hour long press conference. How can you not know if he's gonna:

a. be a stud recruiter

b. be a great HC

c. hire the right coordinators / assistants

d. win national championships

The jury is still out, nobody knows.

If he landed all 5* players, stars would matter. If he lands all 2* and 3* players, stars don't matter.

For me, the Juco guys he's picked up with the sprinkling of talented players means almost as much as hiring the right coordinators.

IMO he has the right offensive coordinator.

The DC job needs to be a quality guy who has an impact right away.

Dooley can recruit, and he can manage the program. He won't be calling the plays on either side of the ball, I don't think, so right now he needs to fill the class with people that want to play for us, and give us the best chance to win.

After that, he needs to hire a damn good DC.

If he does both of those things, I think we will be a successful program for years to come.

I really dont care how many "stars" his recruits have, as long as they turn out to be really good players. But it will take at least 3 classes (counting this one) to be able to accurately judge him. JMO

I think you (and the rest of us) should give him a pass on this class. Two weeks to do two years worth of groundwork - and with a skeletal staff? He's done yeomens work, but this class doesn't reflect accurately on what can or will be achieved.

Judge his recruiting for 2011 class. As far as this year goes, he's saving our a..es right now.

Scouts Inc. is looking back at the Class of 2006 recruiting player rankings - ESPN

Read this article and you will realize that a lot of the kids that are so highly rated don't even make it. Pretty cool to see where they are now.

Funny.... i was reading that as well before getting my groove on in VOLNation territory.

I couldnt believe Spikes was so low on the ESPN150 considering how good he was at UF.

Did you notice alot of UGA recruits either dropped out/transferred/or completely sucked botty at UGA. thought that was funny.

He was recruiting coordinator at LSU when they got #1 classes. I think he'll go for the 4 and 5*'s where it makes sense. Any 2 or 3 *'s he goes after will be because they fit his system. He's already said he coaches to what strengths he has. That is the first sentence of a great coach(in any sport)!
