F . . . Forget UCF. Can you say over rated? I'm so sick of them when talking heads talk about playing tough opponents matters, but then puts UCF in the top 10.

4 seasons avo UCF went 0-12.

They have had two good seasons now playing mediocre talent, and they are supposed to be considered elite? Lol

Unless it'd be at least 5 years in the future I would not want a 2-1 with UCF.

Bobby Bowden had to do similar things at FSU. Look at that program now.

UCF has to do the same thing. You can't just go undefeated in a crappy conference and be expected to be treated as a 'big time' program.
Look at FSU schedule from 1981........Scary .

Hard to make a case for a seat at the playoff table when your ducking a Florida team that hasn't been very dominate of late. I'd like to see Tennessee play them in a couple years.
Ducking?

They are better or just as good. A bigger school also.

Why would they do a 2-1?

I can see it now.

This actually happens and by the time it does UCF is a 6-6 team in their league, Florida is actually a legitimate SEC title contender, and people across the country will knock Florida for scheduling an OOC opponent that doesn’t force them to travel outside the state of Florida.

And people will ask why Florida isn’t playing Miami (who isn’t outside the state) or Oklahoma (as if the schedule isn’t tough enough)

I have no interest in making a schedule more difficult until everyone else is doing the same thing.

I am not interested in 2 for 1. You want a game. You come to our house and deal with it.

Most years, FSU, an 8 game SEC schedule, an SEC title game and the playoff would be a road with enough potholes to be worthy of a national title.

When other teams do that year in and year out, I’ll be more than happy to look at beefing up the schedule

UF is a big time program. If they are looking to get in the playoff, UCF needs to play someone like them. It's not a good look for UCF after all the talking they've been doing the last few of years.

They have played a couple big boys. You don't take a 2-1 in their position.

Whether any of that is true or not is irrelevant.

Who benefits from that game?

It is relevant. It is why UCF wont and shouldn't take a 2-1 like they are some scrub.

Because they have to. They need Florida a helluva lot more than Florida needs them.
They don't have to. They can find another school to do a 1-1. I wouldn't take it. I would look for a kickoff game at neutral site or something.

The problem for Florida is that giving up an OOC home game is expensive for a school that already does home and home with FSU and gives up a home date every other year to go play UGA in Jacksonville.

A neutral kickoff game would be ideal, but they need to turn out for a bowl game to show that it's worthwhile to invite them

They certainly have that option. But, it's still the same story. Why, if you are in a major conference, would you do a 1-1?

And again, it may look different in a couple of years. FSU was a national champion 5 years ago and in the playoff 4 years ago. They were terrible last year and terrible this year.

Every Gator fan I know would want the following if you were going to add another legit OOC opponent to the schedule.

Either...

Miami
or
a name power progam from a power 5 league.

That's it.

And while I am there with all of them, I say stick with the cupcakes until everyone else plays the same kind of schedule.

Id watch that game. I think the big 3 in the state of FL should play each other every year.
