I would almost bet that UCF won’t go unbeaten next year or the year after. Their run is about over then they can return to substandard status and 7-5 again....they been yapping way too long. Time for them to get humbled again...

@yankee vol is right. At FSU Bowden said “I’ll play anyone anywhere”..... and did.

1981 FSU played @Ohio Stare, @lsu, @NotreDame, @Nebraska, and @Pitt in consecutive weeks.

I love the underdog UCF......but if you want the respect, talk to Bobby!

Other than Auburn in the bowl game which they had zero to do with scheduling, who have they played in the regular season in the past 2 seasons that would be as big as UF? The last big boy they played in the regular season was Michigan in 2016, and Michigan kicked their ass.

Because when your football team has fewer Top 10 finishes than the other team has national championships, you don't have the leverage to negotiate a home-and-home with the other team.

That, and as several have stated already, UCF needs UF (see also FSU and Miami) more than the opposite.

They dont need them. Florida isn't the only p5 school in the state or region.

They can find someone else. They aren't going to go 2-1 vs a team they think they are better than.

Yes they do, and they look incredibly stupid turning down UF when they desperately need validation they belong. You can't piss and moan about how you can't get respect then pull this move.

But hey if they are cool going undefeated and beating no one, then go for it, just stop claiming silly national championships and realize your ceiling is a New Year's Six game.

Hey if a 6-5 (or was it 5-6) bama team can claim one, why can't a 13-0 UCF team claim one?

A) It was stupid when Alabama did it, although when did they claim one for a 6-5 team?

B) You may not agree, but teams claiming NC decades ago when they didn't even really try to get the #1 and #2 teams to play in a bowl game is a bit different than claiming one in 2017 when there is a playoff.

I hate the Gators as much as anyone. But they just offered UCF a seat at the grown up table for 3 years, without having to leave their home state. I would love to have seen them boat race UF 3 times, and they might have been able to do it. They had a chance to put up or shut up. They chose to shut up. After talking so much they are going to take some heat for that, and rightfully so.

It also bears mentioning UCF bailed on our game that was scheduled back in 2007.

So give us that ‘07 game back in The Swamp, and UCF gets a home-and-home.

Everyone wins.
