two national championships back to back if it meant going to the NIT for two straight years but after that you would go back to making the tournament, OR going to the tournament every year and go to the elite eight or final four occasionally but not winning it all?

According to some people on this site they would take the second option.

You can't win in one thread, so you start your own thread? Awesome.

Give me a break. Billy's back to back title run is as lucky as they get. They took advantage of an easy road including a Final Four highlighted by George Mason and LSU. He did a good job keeping them from screwing it up. Great. How much credit does he get for recruiting from families that didn't need the NBA money? Because that's why he has the second title.

Horford and Noah didn't. Brewer always did.

Of course you take the B2B titles, what a dumb question.

With that said, I would rather have Bruce Pearl and a host of others of Donovan. He had a loaded team, getting that kind of talent assembled again won't be happening...he will be out at Florida within 2 years.

GIVE IT UP!

I'll take the two titles, but it still doesn't mean Donovan is a great coach.

Also, how many coaches would win back-to-back titles and then make the NIT for two straight seasons, and then get absolutely lucky to make the tourney the next year?

Also, in the OP, you stated " go back to making the tournament ", don't put the cart before the horse.

And help BYU end their horrendous losing streak in The Dance.

Why even try to explain obvious things to ignorant folks? Just let them be.

Little bit of an overstatement:

Prather and Young aren't even Top 20 players. That's the only two he has right now. And Boyton was the only frosh. that played this year (Murphy played sporadically).

His 2011 class looks good so far. Not that amazing yet.

This year was most likely the last year of the NIT so that should answer question.

this message is for the bigorange1717171717717(whatever)...

so you are basically saying that billy donovan is a better coach than pearl based on ONE recruiting class which netted him 2 NCs... nice logic. try again.
