I mean he was an NFL coach, and to go down to college to most is a step down.Wouldnt you be afraid that he would get offered his dream job,and leave

Even if that were the case, Gruden would leave us with a staff in place and would help us with a transition...but I'd take Lane back...

For this egregious sin of a post...you will need to say 25 Peyton Mannings and all shall be forgiven.

Gruden has no love, allegiance or ties to UT other than his wife! Where in the hell do you people come up with this sh**!

Actually he said he loves Tennessee. So maybe you should stop being a prick and look stuff up before you call someone out.

Here's a great idea, let's create a new thread everytime we mention Gruden. That'll work!

Yes...I think that's exactly what would happen. I've told people this for months. I think he would use UT as a stepping stone, just like kidding did. I like Gruden's hard nosed approach, I just don't see him happy with the college game. Jmo!

Gruden has already won the Super Bowl so I'm not sure what else he could accomplish in the NFL that he hasn't done before. And he wouldn't leave UT for another college job. He could become the 3rd coach in history to win both a Super Bowl and a national championship if he comes to UT and does well.

Have you seen his record at USC this year?

USC almost has a worse record then us.
(And they have 10x better talent on Defense, and a much easier SCD.)

And dont forget all the cheating and lieing he does.

I would take take Dooley over Lane anyday there both bad coaches, but atleast Dooley runs a straight program.

Jon Gruden does not need a stepping stone. Jon Gruden is not Lane Kiffin 4 years ago.

WOW...just...WOW. Not only ignorance but aggressive ignorance. Somebody post that video of him this past spring discussing his love of Tennessee.

The stepping stone talk is equally ridiculous. The man has had his choice of any open job for the past 5 years college OR nfl. If he decides to come to Tennessee it is because he wants to be here. He could take a number of NFL jobs THIS year, if he chooses Tennessee over those jobs then he is coming to be a legend and create his legacy, get a street named after him etc...

I'm not sure I believe he's coming yet or not, but if he DOES come then these are not valid concerns whatsoever. If he comes, enjoy it, revel in it.

Gruden has said the only college jobs he would even consider are Tennessee and Notre Dame...He has always spoken highly about UT...Not sure where you get your info.
