I'm shocked!

No really. It would take a perfect game for us to play even with most our opponents and we made too many mistakes. Need to win two more to get an extra couple weeks of practice. And need more horses on the farm to be able to compete on the SEC - Butch has a good list of commitments so far and needs to get them in school.

We'll be back....

We didn't lose, we got blown out.

I just don't understand. Professor "false start" guaranteed a win and everything so I didn't even consider the possibility of losing.

sarcasm off.

You are sorely mistaken if you think there isn't enough talent on this team to be competitive, or at least provide a little resistance, with a team like Mizzou.

This team showed up with an awful gameplan, no heart, and got clobbered for it. It's that simple.

Twice as many pass attempts as runs for a true freshman in his first start, on the road? Really? In what world does that make sense?

Wait, you mean that EVERY SINGLE unranked 4-4 team, coming off a losing season, and with a True Freshman on QB, isn't supposed to ALWAYS upset a TOP 10 TEAM?

MADNESS!

Edit: Not sure why it doubleposted. Forums hate UT.

We couldn't run the ball.

In a world where Mizzou's secondary isn't any better than ours.

Unfortunately, when your receivers are playing like absolute slaw, this strategy backfires.

you do realize where their run defense is ranked......check the stats for Davis....the best back in the league.....125 ypg....only got ~50 yards. they dont let you run

With all due respect cat you and some of the other posters need to recognize the difference between giving up and poor execution. False starts are not the product of quitting they are the result of trying so hard that you lose focus. The defense was one busted coverage from shutting Missouri out in the second half. They played hard all night long. IMO the O line was trying to compensate for the errors for a true freshman QB making his first start on the road and just lost thier poise. That's not quitting. It might be choking if you feel compelled to give it a derogatory label..but this team played hard just not very well.

Sure we probably have fairly "good" talent as far as star ratings goes but our upperclassmen are way underdeveloped, we are extremely young and without much depth. We are starting a ton of underclassmen!

Missouri's coach has been working on this squad for a while- had some pretty poor seasons but they've only lost once in SEC play this year. Patiences can pay off. CBJ has already done something the previous coach couldn't even do with "similar" talent (Butch certainly has less talent then say Dooley's last year) in three years- beat a top 15 school- with less talent and less depth, Butch did it in year 1. Butch has a great recruiting class going and is building for the future. So lets call for patience.

Watching the game I didn't see the players give up like some people think. Perhaps they didn't execute very well but heart didn't have much to do with it. Too many false starts, turnovers and being out of position on defense.

I thought the pivotal point for our defense was when they got a defensive stop deep in our own territory but only a few plays later Dobbs turned it over and Missouri got a quick score- talk about deflating. Football is a game of momentum. This was going to require an all around great effort to win and Dobbs wasn't up for the challenge...and whose to blame him. I would of rather had a healthy Worley starting (weird saying that). We are essentially playing a third string QB (and freshmen no less)- that should tell you something. Dobbs looked like a freshmen in his first start.

Playing from behind is the reason Dobbs had more passes.

A top 10 team that all week every thread on here was saying hadn't played anyone, overrated, could easily be beat, etc. People need to make up their damn minds. They're only a legit top 10 team after they served us our own asses on a silver platter.

Yeah, the only non-poopy teams UT has played has been top 15 teams. They beat 1 and almost beat another. Shame on Butch for not pulling a miracle from the sky and do better.

We got butt rammed; aka didn't even show up. Big difference. You know we used to be a top 10 team right?

A number of factors to consider.

UT got blown-out. By Mizzou. Yes, the "cellar dweller" of the east. And they didn't even have their best QB in. Shouldn't be shocked by the loss, but more by the lack of effort displayed.

Still time to regroup though.

Why is a Kentucky fan calling any team but his own the "cellar dweller" of the east?
