Waiting this long, it appears that they may be looking at someone in the pro ranks...my guess.

There's also the possibility of Trooper moving to WR coach and bringing in a RB coach.

What if he gets fired at the end of the season with the rest of their staff and doesnt get another offer to coach in the NFL???

Dont be so sure. There have been several head coaches in the NFL who have opted to coach college after gettting fired in the NFL.

IF he is available and wants the job it is his. He is the best candidate. This all hinges on, the texan head coach and staff being let go and he doesnt find another NFL job. Texan head coach and staff being dismissed is a real possiblity :twocents: .

I think they are either looking pro or have a candidate that is with a team in a bowl and doesn't want to leave until after the bowl game.

Kippy Brown has stated that he wants to stay in the NFL so he can qualify for a pension. However it was reported that he had told one of his family members that he was interested in the UT job. So right now there's some mixed signals on the Kippy situation. My guess if he's going to wait and see if any other NFL teams offer him a job, if he's not offered one, I think he'll be back at UT.

Kippy already has a pension with the NFL but he is 2 yrs away from a higher level pension. It has been said that if he comes to Tennessee and coaches he can still get his pension without coaching again in the NFL. He can be a scout for a NFL team for 2 yrs. and still get his pension.

What about Special Teams? I swear if this gets neglected then we'll see more big game losses and no trips to Atlanta the first Saturday in December.

In the SEC speacial teams can win at least 4 games. But what kills me is that when we are playing teams like UAB, etc. our speacial team players should out athlete theirs but it never happens :fool:

I heard at one point Thomas Woods was a consideration.

Any new news on this topic?

I just read an article on Scout and it said that KB was not coming to Tennessee. However, it did mention a few names as possibilities for the wrc spot. The one that sounded the most interesting was Joe Whitt Jr. the recruiting coordinator for Louisville. Although I wouldn't give him credit for bringing in Brian Brohm they have improved their talent level greatly over the last several years.
