Do our WRs have a specific route or do they CHOOSE to go deep or curl in depending on what the CB does?
Thanks! I have been looking for those to show why we struggled this year as we didn't have a Hyatt type speed guy and Nico can't read things as fast as Hendon couldHeupel's offense is built - well, okay, up until this year it seemed to be built - on choices for the primary routes, where receivers would have two or three options and had to act based on what the defense showed before the snap, and did after the snap
Here's a great video that broke down some of the 2022 version of Tennessee's offense, as it applied to the 2022 Alabama game -

Wow! Squirrel White was supposed to be Hyatt, I think that if he wasn't injured as much he could have. With that being said we needed another Hyatt to make this offense look like 2022! We can't forget that we also had a 1 round Offensive Tackle on that team.Heupel's offense is built - well, okay, up until this year it seemed to be built - on choices for the primary routes, where receivers would have two or three options and had to act based on what the defense showed before the snap, and did after the snap

Maybe this is why our offense really struggled. If our WRs have options, they clearly can’t choose the wrong option and our QB has to wait for them to make it. Honestly if I knew that as a defensive coordinator, I’d somehow make my CBs force the WRs in a certain routeHeupel's offense is built - well, okay, up until this year it seemed to be built - on choices for the primary routes, where receivers would have two or three options and had to act based on what the defense showed before the snap, and did after the snap

The thing that really jumped out to me in those videos is the protection Hendon had. Nico doesn’t have that at all.Heupel's offense is built - well, okay, up until this year it seemed to be built - on choices for the primary routes, where receivers would have two or three options and had to act based on what the defense showed before the snap, and did after the snap
