Friends, we are all just desperate for the beginning of the season. It's everywhere, just like the week before christmas -- and so are all the other fans in the SEC.

So I figured we'd get a little thread here of what the OTHER fan bases are thinking their teams will do this year.

I'll start with a surprise from a Bammer.....

Yesterday, I spoke with a very loyal Bammer Rammer who says they are going to have a "down year", probably 10-2 going into the bowl. :lolabove:

what are other fan bases saying to you about their coming season?

This was the year I picked for the NC for LSU 2-3 years ago, however that was before quite a few left early for the draft and now the suspension of TM.

With that said, there are quite a few more questions with the loss of TM and several other secondary players leaving the team that puts a big question mark in this area. To me LSU went from the deepest secondary to very thin, I still think the secondary is real good but experience could be a problem... losing 5 CB/S in the last few months. I still feel good about the secondary but if the injury bug hits than it could get rough real quick.

Another question mark is young LBs, I expect quite a few true freshman in the LB positions. LSU is very solid in the DL, to me the best DL in the nation, matter of fact, LSU could have the 1st and 3rd best DLs if they were separate units. Where as last year LSU rotated 8-10 guys, I expect 10-12 guy rotation this year.

Offense is where I think the team will be better and despite the NC game, I thought LSU got back to playing Tiger football at least in the early part of the year. Replacing Reuben is the only thing I would like to see, hopefully someone steps. LSU can't play this get up by 20 points and shut down the passing game, the other team puts 9 in the box in the 3rd quarter you go to the pass. If you are up by 30 points and the second string QB is in there, they put 9 in the box, you throw the ball. You have to improve, which I did not think LSU took advantage from last year when they had victories secured.

Worse case: 2 losses
Best case: SECC and NC

For LSU to win the NC the secondary has to step and avoid injury and the passing game has to improve.

For Bama, I have the same best and worst cases as SIU has for LSU.

If the young defensive guys don't have the same mental lapses as the newbies had in 2010, Bama will be just fine.

Talked to a bammer and he said 11-1. Talked to a LSU fan and he predicted undefeated and NC.

I'm thinking between nine and ten wins in the regular season.

We should end up in Atlanta. Bama and LSU will probably be tough to beat. Probably will end up in a New Years Day bowl.

Well, after week 1 I think I feel the same way. LSU played so-so, not real sharp, sloppy at times, also showed why they are a top 10 team. I think I have the same questions about the team as I had before week 1, the young secondary.

Potential issues:

D
- Experience at CB... they seemed to hold there own but kind of shaky.
- LBs actually played well including some true freshman.
- DL looked solid but not the superman status.

O

- Mett was ok, got his bell rang, overall did ok for his first D-1 start.
- WRs Landry has solidified his position and Beckham scored on a punt return. Shepard former 5-star is now probably 3-4 on the depth chart, still seems to struggle in pass routes and catching the ball.
- OL actually struggled in pass protection... some concern there for me.
- RBs look tough and sharp

Right now, either due to the competition, the opponent, lose of personnel, the hurricane or other... the Tigers did not look as sharp as they did against Oregon on opening day last year.

At this point, I do not think the D is as good as they were last year but it's still the beginning of the year. I think the O is going to have to score at times a lot more, which mean a vertical game.

Players that stood out in a good way:
- Hillard
- Beckham
- Landry
- Mingo
- Jones (true freshman) playing OLB

Players that stood out in a bad way:
- Loston (former 5-star) looks slow and out of touch
- Shepard (former 5-star) looking like well Shepard... bad routes, bad hands, does nothing unless he is completely in the open
- OL various personel

LSU played 12 true freshman and much of it was early in the game. LSU did rack up the most yards in a game since 2007 but I think fans want to see more vertical game.

Bama looked like the absolute team to beat against Michigan. It will take a smart and accurate QB to have a shot at beating them.

My UK football prediction: they'll be irrelevant and piss me off all year.

They finish with 4 wins and that ****sucker Clay Travis wins his bet...

Well, another week. I saw half of the UGA/Missouri and Ark games, saw all of the UF/UTAM and LSU games.

I liked how UF came back in the second half, show real toughness. UGA played tough as well. Arkansas crumpled after the injuries. LSU dominated even more than they did last week.

LSU looked sloppy last week, other than 5 dropped passes LSU was much sharper than they were last week. Mett can definitely fling it down the feel and he was pretty much perfect as only 6 of his passes were incomplete and 5 of them were easy drops.

The problem for LSU is basically every week we are losing players either to transferring, suspension and/or injuries. This week OT Chris Faulk, if LSU is going to be able to compete with beating Bama, not once but possibly twice again this year... LSU really can't afford too many more injuries.

One thing is for certain at this point, if you don't move Mett off his spot he can hit a guy down the field very quickly. Russell Shepard might be the first 5-star to become the waterboy for his team by the end of his career.

Another week and additional thoughts. LSU lost 4 more players for the season, 3 due to school and 1 due to ACL before the game. LSU has lost a huge amount of players from the 2012 due to injury, suspension, and early draft. Making things worse Alfred Blue had an injury and was seen with crutches and Mingo got a sprain ankle.

The good news... a ton of true and RS freshman are playing and playing well. The secondary is coming together but is still very young, major playing time from freshman or RS freshman.

The D played well, the secondary played outstanding with 3 INTs. The O was ok but not completely sharp, Freshman Hill got carries and looked good... all in all a good game but they need to get sharper.

With all the loses (players) I think Bama is going to be hard to overcome.

Mustchump will have a stroke on the sideline.

That is what I can't stand about some of these coaches anymore... they are like insane people on the sidelines. Complaining about every call, yelling after every play, throwing stuff, etc.

It's kind of embarrassing if you ask me. When a coach has to be that intense for every play of every game... something ain't right.

I do get mad a Les a few times a year, and he is good for bone-head decision a time or two but at least he doesn't act like a complete moron on the sidelines. The UT/UF game was like a competition to see what coach was going to go punch their own player or the referee first.

How in the hell do these coaches think the players can keep their heads when they can't?
