Leach will be in the coaching HOF. His coaching tree is extensive. His impact on the Air Raid offense is pervasive through college, HS and even the NFL. His last 2 QBs at WSU are starting in the NFL. One of his former QBs is a head coach in the NFL.

As example of his non-traditional thinking "the greatest time of possession is scoring a touchdown. It includes the time it took to score AND the time it takes the opponent to match it." (paraphrased)

For perspective on the challenges of winning at WSU - it took Dennis Erickson in the late 80s to win the Cougars first bowl game since 1916.

IOW, the Cougs in the PAC 12 historically are equivalent to Vandy in the SEC (without the early success)

At this point, I believe we need someone with some Tennessee lineage (not Manning). Hiring Bamers is not the answer and that bridge needs to be detonated and burned.

Think I heard Leach say once that he doesn't have a huge playbook just a few plays that they do really well...Jimmy Johnson did the same thing at Miami..our guys can beat your guys so no point in having tons of different plays

He has led the entire pac 16 in passing yards the last 7 years straight.

That is impressive.

Oklahoma has been running the Air Raid and they are in the running for 3 straight Heisman's with 3 different QBs - the coach is part of the Leach coaching tree.

Leach would be a high risk hire. The upside is being the next Spurrier or Meyer. The downside is 8ish wins. The guarantee is football would at least be entertaining again.
