Year 10 with a coach...

I mean I love to laugh at KY.
The last 8-9 years though, they have consistently been a questionable opponent before games.

Part of that of course is how low we had sunk as a program, but Stoops has done a great job there.

KY is never gonna be able to take down an opponent like we put on the field tonight. There are only 1-2 of those on your schedule every year though.

Considering the football history of KY, simply being bowl eligible each year must seem to them like we felt in the 90s. Sooner or later, Stoops will leave and KY will resume their yearly battle with Vandy for the East cellar..

Well he's right
I get it
They're not going to get any better than they are right now with Stoops
I've been trying to tell a Cat fan I met this. UK is just in a really bad spot recruiting wise. They've got the whole SEC to the south of them, tOSU and Michigan to the north of them, and no in state talent to speak of. There's very little about Stoops or his program that's going to win a lot of great players over the upper tier of the SEC or Big 10 or even the ACC. If Cincinnati could somehow work their way into a P-5 conference... it would get even worse for UK.

Their fans should just feel good about basketball and stop the delusions about competing for the East or SEC.

Some folks love the guy. Personally I don’t. I think Stoops is definitely a decent coach; however (in my opinion) you can’t be elite or great with him as your coach.

Stuck in the past. Not willing to adapt. They have had a couple great seasons (for them)…….THAT is their peak.

They absolutely have talent. However without a totally new game plan and scheme…….they cannot fully utilize what they have and get better.

This sounds like a joke, and is, but I wondered if they couldn't do better if the basketball coaches recruited the football players.
They know how to recruit.

Or anyone else! Kentucky has been terrible for longer than anyone can remember, they have built nice facilities for Stoops, play getting worse! Who in their right mind would step into this program??

I'm sorry, but what are KY fans expecting? Maybe oncwe the playoffs expand they will have a somewhat reasonable shot at making the playoffs (though still very unlikely). But they won't ever be a team that is a consistent top 10 program.

They aren't getting than what they are with anyone. I honestly don't even think Saban could turn them into top 5 program.

Cincy is going to the Big 12.

Seriously the KY jelly kids should be thrilled with 8-9 wins every year. Less than 10% of programs should even remotely consider that a disappointing hire.
True.

The only thing disappointing about Mark Stoops ten seasons is his inability to capitalize on Tennessee's downfall, which now appears to be over. In particular, losing to Tennessee in 2018 has to hurt. Kentucky finished 10-3. Tennessee was just 5-7. Somehow, Tennessee won 24-7. It wasn't even close. That cost them a bid to The Fiesta Bowl.
