Yearly Bama game?

I'm sure there are still many who feel like it is unfair, but curious if anyone has now changed their mind after getting a taste of how great the Third Saturday can be?

I had this same thought.

With the 12-team playoff coming, regular season losses won't hurt as much, so there's even less reason to worry about playing them every year.

I love the Third Saturday in October.

If they go to pods and we get three permanent opponents and they base it on historical rivalries; Tennessee has to get Alabama, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. Just saying
Agreed but you need Auburn in there for us and Bama both historically speaking or permanent game with them for Bama at least.

As the conference continues to expand; I would like to see a more fair, round-robin scheduling system in place. It seems Tennessee always finds itself in a scheduling disadvantage in comparison to our division rivals. Consistently having a tougher path than Georgia and Florida every year is absurd.

No . . . I still think permanent conference opponents are a complete dinosaur and never equitable. If they go to a 9 game schedule, they can rotate opponents so that we'd play everybody at least every 2nd year anyway. We'd just play Alabama 3 or 4 out of 5 years instead of every year. It wouldn't be that big of a deal.

We finally got Saban, dude is also 71, he’s not going to be there forever. Let’s withstand the rest of his tenure and then help them implode once he’s gone (or maybe before and hasten his departure!).

Georgia and Florida have only had it easier because we were down. We have always played those three and used to play Auburn a lot more often as well. When we were good it didn't matter.
No way to I want to give up the chance for a more regular occurrence of what happened this past Saturday night. The rivalry is historic and would be akin to no Texas/Oklahoma every year or no USC/Notre Dame.
The game simply has to be played.

In all fairness, every team within the same division play each other out of necessity but everything outside of the division should be round robin. No one can convince me that having Alabama on the schedule every year has ever helped us. If the Tennessee/Alabama rivalry is important enough that it needs to be a yearly occurrence then move Bama to the eastern division.

Before long it will be bammers complaining that they have to play Tennessee every year.

Anyone against playing Bama every year is not a real Vol. I like to think the only reason we joined the SIAA which would become the SEC eventually was to get more pay back on Tuscaloosa after reconstruction ended. Everything we accomplish every year is second to beating Bama. I would prefer to win against Bama then even an SEC championship in any given year. Usually though those two go together. Now that we need to make up for 15 years. I am only in more desire to play them every year.

We have played Auburn only 54 times. That is @bout have as many times +o pared to Alabama, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. No way Auburn should be there. If you are afraid to play Vandy, add Ga. Tech to the SEC and play them.

How in the world did you get anyone was afraid to play Vandy out of that? The overwhelming point is there is no way you can separate Alabama from Auburn and he was saying historical matchups. At least prior to divisions (the first 80 or so years of Souther Conf/SEC) we played Auburn a whole crap ton more than Georgia, Florida, LSU etc.

I was saying we need those teams plus you have to work Auburn into the mix for Bama at least and us too to a lesser degree (Auburn has more of a rivalry with us than KY and Vandy). Either got your wires crossed or misread my point entirely.

Noones trying to convince you. It's a dumb opinion and simply doesn't matter
