To walk into a room full of senior OL veterans before your first college start to talk about trusting them....

This young man is as confident as it comes. Butch + Dobbs takes confidence to a whole new level in UT.

Dobbs interrupts UT OL meeting

Josh Dobbs stuck his head into the Tennessee offensive line's meeting room Tuesday afternoon.

The freshman quarterback politely interrupted line coach Don Mahoney with a message for the Volunteers' veteran unit, a group that's played much more football than he has.

Let right tackle Ja'Wuan James, a senior who's started every game of his Tennessee career, take it from there.

"He came to us as an offensive line and just talked to us and said, 'I believe in y'all,' and he feels comfortable going out there and playing behind the best offensive line in the country," James recalled after the Vols practiced later Tuesday.

"I was surprised," James added. "It takes a lot of confidence and what belief he has in us for him to do that. He came into our meeting room while we were in meetings and asked Coach Mo to hold off for a second -- he wanted to say something.

"That takes a lot of guts, and I like that about him."

He's already putting it all out there for the Big Orange and that's impressive for a true freshman.

This makes me very confident that communications between everyone on our O are not going to be any problems when this kid does things like this.

Going right into the O line meeting room to say some things sounds more like what a confident Jr or Sr QB might do rather than a true freshman going into his 1st start.

We should never expect much from any true freshman especially at the QB position so no matter how good or bad things may go the rest of this season everyone just stay positive and be very supportive of our young QB's and everyone else because they ARE the future of our Vols football program.

He'll do his best on every snap and giving his all is all we can ask for.

Didn't Peyton do something similar in the huddle at UCLA in his first game and get an earhole full from Jason Layman?

So many positives to this young man.

I didn't realize til today he played shortstop (I just knew he played baseball). Takes good instincts and quick reflexes to be a great SS. (I'm assuming he's a great SS, if that's not the case I'd appreciate y'all not telling me. I like the world I'm living in right now, lol.)

We don't have to die and go to heaven or hang around to be dobbed again. We can have the best of both worlds

Different team, coach and attitude. There's no more upper classmen superiority complexes. If your good you play, instead of waiting your turn as in the past.
