but if you dont have the best players for your game plan it will never work. If you have crappy schemes and good players you can still win some games. Just look at Texas, USC, and OU. Its fact...just settle in and let Butch get his players. I say give him 4-5 years minimum

C'mon dude.

Its not like we have Furman level talent. Yet that is what we look like

4 or 5 years of this and we will be lucky to sell 20,000 tickets

We should be rolling by year 3. If it takes 5 years then something is wrong.

FTR I still have full faith CBJ gets it going soon rather than later.

What if you have some really poor schemes each week? And, he doesn't have 4-5 yrs, 3 absolute tops. If he loses the next two games like it surely appears he's about to, he's gonna go into next year with a fairly warm seat. I've been a huge Butch advocate since soon after his initial press conference but he's starting to lose me. The last 2 games have been awful and completely unacceptable. His team has played uninspired, undisciplined football and he needs to be held accountable. Unlike well coached teams who get better as the season goes on, his team is getting much worse.

no....bad idea. The reason we are in our current situation is related to horrible continuity

I sincerely hope this is sarcasm. Our talent level on defense aside from maybe 4 or 5 players is seriously lacking.

I dont even understand your point. Are you saying this year is on Butch? I believe this is an unfair assessment considering all of the turn over.

Actually yes, We do...Every player on this team would have a tough time making a sunbelt squad...It is what it is...Reality sometimes is a hard kick in the balls.

Look the fact is CBJ isn't going anywhere as long as he wins the games he should and even a few he shouldn't, which he already has done by beating USCe. I know some fans think that just because we are UT that we are automatically as talented as every team we play but the reality is that were not close.
I don't even want to know what you people that think we should be competing for the SEC this year expect for next year. Honestly we won't be that much better. It will only be 1 recruiting class and none of those will have any experience and they will be learning from players that have no idea what it takes to compete in the SEC.

In the real world it will take CBJ and staff until the 2016 season to have us competing for the East. that will give them 3 full classes, 2 with at least one year in the system. Now if they turn out to be the best coaches in the entire history of football we might have a chance in 2015 and to do that they will be competing for the East starting 90% underclassmen

Great schemes make players look better than they are. And really... no one is asking for UT's D to be Bama. We're asking for them to look better than Arkansas State. We're asking for the coaches to at least have guys in position. We're asking for them to NOT look like they have never seen a play before after a week of film study... and the other team already having run that play 10 times.

If you give Jones more than 3 years, the program starts backing up and you leave it no better off than he found it. The programs that have come out of situations like UT is in... largely turn coaches within 4 years if they don't win. Bama, UF, Aub, TAM, UGA, even Ole Miss.

This is even more critical at UT since the Vols are so dependent on out of state talent. Great players willing to leave FL, GA, SC, NC, LA, TX, etc are going to go to winners. You can create new coach buzz to start... but if you don't back it up on the field there is NO WAY to keep getting those players.
