No surprises here. Republicans and religious folks are more charitable than liberals, who knew? Liberals are only generous with other peoples money.

The real lesson here is that the more the government helps the poor, the less giving we (actually just liberals) and your neighbors (that are liberal) become.

Liberalism is disease. Plain and simple.

Someone could start a thread a out the stingy rich and middle class, using the same article. Stereotypes are fun.

It would have been a better comparison to do two west coast cities, one conservative and one liberal. But then, I doubt Sioux city was chosen at random.

Exactly! As everyone knows that conservatives can't be objective (due to inbreeding), the whole thing should be thrown out, or at the very least, left entirely unconsidered.

This is no chatacter, brother - I believe in logic and reason, being open-minded about the beliefs of others, the power of a rich diversity of humanity, and the inarguable supremacy of personal freedoms.......of course I'm a liberal!

Why, its widely known that all conservatives are greedy bastages who only believe in killing poor people, making war, holding black people down, preventing gays from getting hitched, and preventing women from gaining the equality which they have long-deserved and been denied. I think that animals are just as important as humans, that the earth is our mother, and in the holistic healing powers of crystals, herbs and other manure-centric cultivation tactics.

Before you go questioning my liberal credentials, know that I too listen to NPR, read "The Intellectual Devotional" and light a candle at my Darwin shrine each morning before heading out to find some Christians to debate / mock.

We're a lot alike, you and I.
