Do you think Kiffin would have still bolted for USC if he KNEW this was going to happen to them? To make it clearer, would he have went to USC if they offered him the job AFTER the NCAA rulings?

None of this matters really, just wanted to know what you guys thought.

Kiffin is a delusional douchebag, period. Kiffin told EVERY player they recruited not to worry. Yup, serves him right,

It was his dream job supposedly. I'd almost be willing to bet Lane Kiffin becomes one big flop as a head coach. He should see if there is still room on Pete Carroll's Seahawk staff. As far as the OP's question goes, i think he was looking for the first ticket out of Knoxville, not his style. Knoxville doesn't fit for flakes like Lame.

Why would he have stayed? He almost doubled his salary. Now if he cant perform as a coach he has a crutch. Just like the Bama game blaming the refs for the loss. Hes a douche.

I don't know, but I bet he is fit to be tied right now.
Makes you wonder if he told those recruits that there was nothing to worry about , then this happens. Seems like his name and reputation would take a hit there. Lane just strikes me as the type of guy that says something in the heat of the moment and doesn't really think of the long term consequences of what he's saying. Kind of a loose cannon type of fellow, know wonder him and Orgeron get along , two peas in a pod.

It looks like Lane is leading O around by the nose. He probably told him not to worry too. It is likely that Garrett told him there was nothing to worry about and he bit hook, line, and sinker.

I don't think this is going to kill his career, but he won't be able to win right away. There will be no instant gratification. I think that will be enough to appease most disgruntled UT fans.

He left us in a bad spot for greener pastures. I still don't begrudge the move, but it is much better for the collective UT psyche that he won't be playing for championships for the next two years at the very least.

I think he still would have gone. Considering what he is getting paid? Yes. Plus, Layla wanted out there regardless.

Probably. He didn't seem to like it here in east TN while southern Cal is his bag, baby. He will now get a free pass for less than stellar success in a few years while still getting to feel like he's at home and at his favorite place. I think he would have still taken the gig.
On another note, I still hate that Tosh.o look alike.

Then i guess the question becomes can he behave long enough to get anything done at SC.

That is a good question. I'd say that 4 mill a year could buy some fine anger management courses. He may even be able to find a counselor to help him with his impulsive tongue.

The most interesting thing to me will be the USC compliance office, and their stance on the risky recruiting tactics once the dust settles.

The good news for the college football world is that Lane probably feels like he is behind the 8 ball again, which means he will have to come out of hiding and shooting from the hip once more.
