It takes good coaching to have guys who are not 5* bring down ranked teams. Yes, there is room for much improvement on both sides of the ball, but these coaches are doing something right.

We can only sit in anticipation of what the next several games will bring. I think the mood has changed and TN now sees itself in the national picture and going beyond an SEC East championship game.

Hats off to what these coaches have accomplished!

One thing is for sure, and that is that you cannot coach a kid "up" if you are not a good coach.

Coach Heupel and his entire staff are coaching our 3s to be 4s and our 4s to be 5s.

It's happening.....

I said before the game Heupel needed to be at his best. He absolutely was. The better coach won! Saban makes the right calls and trusts "the process" but, Heupel adds in going on instinct. In his mind, he's still playing the game. He sees and that "dog" in the players eyes. He's still the field commander and he and Hendon are on the exact same frequency.

I admit I was not very impressed with the DC last season but you have to play with the hand your dealt and now I understand his scheme to stop the run and blitz the QB to cover for the weakness in the secondary. Its a bend but don't break strategy that is working. I have a much higher opinion now. I'm sure coaches are working the recruiting to shore up the secondary.

They put their team in a position to win the game with good execution every week by winning the XO battle. The teams 1st quarter production tells you all you ned to know about that.

The coaches stuck with the run and it produced huge results in the secondary. The coaches stuck with the bullrush of Bryce and forced him to have a great game to beat them. He did have a great game but those last 2 plays he had zero time.

This staff is really really good at finding mismatches and getting guys in space. I can think of a handful of plays this season and last where the absolute perfect play was called but the throw was slightly off or someone just didn't catch the ball. Thankfully the vast majority of the time the play is executed as designed!

We have long needed a coach that could do more with less. I used to watch in envy as undermanned, unranked teams beat ranked favorites. Some coaches have the knack of inspiring, motivating, and scheming to get the most out of their talent. I knew that it would take that kind of coach to fix the predicament previous regimes had left us saddled with. Heupel is that guy, and he’s building a culture in that locker room that is special. I just can’t wait to see what he can do when the raw talent catches up to the culture.

I thank the coaches, give them their due, and also especially Danny White for being the AD we have needed for a decade or more. He's proven beyond any doubt what a good AD means to a program. I think he's gonna end up there with Doug Dickey when all is said and done. We need to keep him.

Heupel’s success vis a vis Butch’s miserable failure, for example, is showing that the old “It’s the Jimmies and joes, not the x’s and o’s” saying is nothing but a false dichotomy.

We’ve known and harped on the fact that there is no level of coaching that can overcome a complete lack of talent in key positions. There is also no level of talent that will allow you to win consistently with poor coaching. Scheme, player development (which includes the players’ own work ethic and commitment), and recruiting are legs of a three-legged stool. Acting like one is drastically more important than the others is silly.

I really do NOT care 1 tiny bit what the costs would be but I really believe that we should pay our AD and all our coaches whatever it will take to try to keep them all as long as we possibly can!!!

There are zero doubts that they have now proven, both on and off the field, that they are well worth the $$$$$.

I wish I could hit the lottery because I'd instantly give them all at least a $1 Million a year raise to try to keep them.

What CJH has done by recruiting and teaching these coaches to do things mostly his way and them all recruiting the normal way and from the portal in such a short time is honestly a miracle IMO.

All our coaches and players are absolutely giving their all for our beloved Tennessee footVOL Team.

I appreciate them all more that I can express.

God bless them all.

VFL...GBO!!!

And then Heup has also totally owned defenses twice by calling the old school shovel pass for critical short yardage situations. His bag of tricks is amazing. And the timing is nearly impeccable.
For a fan of a team that has spent decades getting out schemed, this is pure joy to behold
