He burned the worst of the two freshmens RS.

Furguson is a beast!

I am guessing if Ferguson is the best, then CBJ would have rather RS Dobbs just in case Ferguson left after his JR year so Dobbs would have 2 years eligibility left.

I am thinking the leg injury may have played into Ferguson not playing.

The Dobbs haters are the most idiotic fans on here. The op has created anti Dobbs threads before and can't even spell Ferguson's name right. Riley could have played. Dobbs has passed him up. It was a tie before that. The depth chart had them both at 2. Coach Butch Jones himself said so. When asked was it because of injuries he said no. So he is lying ? Coach will play the best player. Some can't come to grips that the guy they hyped and annoited before he saw the field is behind the guy they bad mouthed. Dobbs played because right now he is a little better . Period point blank.

I kept looking for Riley Cooper to step onto the field, since Fergy was injured.

I thought Dobbs did great, this was his first game against the best team in the nation and a great defense...Give him a chance.

I do think if Ferguson was 100% he would have been out there. Last week against SC Riley was the one throwing and warming up. So something happened with his leg this week. As well as Dobbs play, if Riley was ahead of him we will be in good shape for the future.

But it was really Riley Cooper.:)

If that was the case it would have made sense that he played Ferguson. Ferguson won't add that running threat Dobbs offer. Now that Dobbs has performed well IN A GAME even if Ferguson gets better Dobbs will get the go ahead. Plus no one heard about him being hurt but when Dobbs goes in ahead of him then all of a sudden he's too hurt to play but isn't hurt enough to dress out. Dobbs is the best option for this type of offense

I have heard speculation that he is the best runner and passer. I heard he could hit the crossbar on the goalpost from the kneeling position 9 out of 10 times from 60 yards away. Plus a flat 3 sec 40.

IF he is saving the better QB for one more year, then he is worrying about the depth chart for 2018. How long did the previous coaching staff last? I think you will see that he probably isn't worried about the depth chart 5 years down the road.

What an idiotic post. People like you that post BS like this should get a life. You have nothing what so ever to back this statement up. I sure hope that you a smart enough to not base a qb in his highschool stats, thy mean nothing anymore. As for what thy have done since being at Tennessee, well neither has done anything to say who is better. You any go off of practice, because neither if them has ran with the first team and please don't pull out the Orange and White crap. Not knocking Ferguson, but if he is truly all that some think he is, there is no way that CBJ would not have out him in by now. You don't RS the best player, just to protect the future, when there was still way to much ball to play and so much at stake. You don't rebuild by keeping your best athletes on the bench. You rebuild by showing improvement on the field and when this is done, the recruiting will take are of the rest. Damn I get so tired of those that claim this freshman is better er than that one, that's like those that say Worley is better then both freshmen, if that is the case ten we are in some serious trouble. Worley seems like a great guy and so does Prterman, but let's et real and out on our thick skin here, they both are not that good. Just because they made t to UT does not mean that they are great. Yes I applaud them for wearing the Orange, but neither has done anything that says they are the best qb we have. Neither has beaten a quality opponent and please do not Say Worley beat USCjr, because it clearly was not because if his performance. North saved his butt by making such a spectacular grab. No one other than the coaches hae any clue. Now that I have finished with my rant, Go Vols!

I like a little chocolate in my coffee stick with Dobbs. Plus they went black. You know they can't go back. Man I feel the grease pan getting hot. I'm about to get fried. Oh well. Laugh at it. Or ***** at it. That's where the fan base is at these days.

Dobbs will be at UT for 4 years until he transfers to another school for his masters...too smart to stick around even if he Red shirts...we would be saving it for another team...simple as that..and the kid is smart..UT Rocket Man

I don't know why, but I'm a lot more fond of Dobbs than Ferguson. I think just because he's dual threat and he's really smart. I'm pretty sure he's going into aerospace engineering. If he can transfer that kind of mental ability to the football field, I feel he can make much better decisions than a gunslinger like Ferguson. We all know the end-of-game disasters that can come of a gunslinger from Bray.
