when people are jealous of your seeding and do nothing but rip your team up and down saying they are no good and dont deserve it. when the other fans give you that type of verbal beating, you have made it big time!

Agreed. I'm really enjoying how upset the UNC, UF, and LSU fans are about our seeding vs. theirs. HELLOOOOO, SOS and RPI. The only thing we have against us is the "hot or not" factor. Obviously the committee decided it wasn't that critical. Get hot, and we'll be in good shape!!!

I don't see why it is a problem to criticize the committee for giving you a #2 seed. I don't think you deserve it, and that has nothing to do with Florida's seed at all. I am fine with where we are. I don't say we should be higher than you. Seems to me that at least 2/3 of the people on this site outright say a #2 is inaccurately high and of the remaining third at least half of them are hedging.

Just a question, besides Carolina, who else would you have put ahead of UT in the seeds?

Agree was surprised too. Even the Vols themselves were surprised. But we did have strong year with a slow finish. The weak finish is what is suprising all on the #2 seed. Now time to go and prove what they can do. If they can far into tournament no will then ask why we were seeded high in the beginning. If not, start your engines.

for the most part the 2-4 seeds are pretty much at the same level. Interestlingly, I did find out that they distribute hotels based on seed. So the #1 seed in a region gets first pick of the hotels (Ritz Carlton or what not), while the #16 seed is lucky to get Lucky Joe's Motor Court.

Interesting fact. thanks

At quick glance, the teams I personally would have seeded ahead of you are: Syracuse, George Washington, Pitt, Kansas, UNC, and Boston College.

George Washington hasn't played anyone this year...

Syracuse? Yes, they did win the Big East, however, that is all they have done this year. 19-10 prior to the Big East tourney, their only top 25 win came over WVU. Yes, they got hot in time to make it into the dance, but that is it.

GW...played nobody. 26-2, great, against what, 25 teams that are outside the top 100?

Pitt...could definitely make a solid argument to be ahead of UT, but their non conference schedule was extremely weak (1 ranked team, Wisonsin)

KU...almost as weaker non conference schedule than Pitt couple with the fact that they played in a much weaker conference. Pitt probably should have gotten the 4 and KU the 5 in that bracket.

BC...again, weak non conference schedule, lost to the only ranked non conference team they played.

The committee has been trying to force teams to schedule tougher non conference competition, whether you feel it is right or not, this is how they punish teams for racking up 10-14 easy wins prior to conference play.

I'm telling you, Kansas is extremely athletic and playing well right now. Watch out for them.

This is a pretty good post, just one point to make about Kansas... its not their fault that UK sucked this year, they scheduled them expecting the cream of the SEC.

even in playing weak schedules...rolling up a lot of wins tends to make teams very coinfident. Making them better that in itself, just because a team has'nt played ''quality'' teams doesnt make them a gimme.

Lawgator, I know what you mean, and I thought that 2 was a high seed at first. I was excited, and am glad. I personally saw us in a #4, or #3 with the SEC tourny play, if we won I'd say a #2 deffinitly. But also if you look back on our season, we beat every tough opponent we played besides #1 memphis, which we gave them a hell of a game.

Pearl said that he wanted people not to like him. He has the SEC coaches scared out of their minds and it is starting to carry over. Go Vols. :tease2:

I am not saying these teams are gimmes, I am just saying that when the committee seeds teams they look at resume and what have you done, not what can you potentially do. I have both KU and BC in my final four, because both teams are hot right now and have a ton of athleticism.
