WNBA is a sport. WNBA=basketball. Basketball=a sport. Billiards and bowling are not sports. But theyre a hell of a lot closer then poker. ESPN has lost it with all this s**t they put on air. Pool, bowling, and now poker, are not even debatable to be sports. But the WNBA most certainly is. I dont watch it, or care about it, and Im sure not many do, but it is a sport, unlike the other 3 listed above.

A sport should require some type of physical athletic ability, beyond counting and flipping chips into the center of the table, poker requires no atheletic ability.

I never said the WNBA was not a sport . . . just making the point that sports come in a lot of different forms and they are not always entertaining to everyone.

Personally, I like watching professional poker. I don't know if it's a sport or not . . . and I really don't care. I just like it.

SPORT:

noun (plural sports)

1. competitive physical activity: an individual or group competitive activity involving physical exertion or skill, governed by rules, and sometimes engaged in professionally ( often used in the plural )

2. pastime: an ACTIVE pastime participated in for pleasure or exercise

Any questions?

Love me some poker. But that doesn't make it a sport. Hell, I like steak and a good glass of wine. . . .but ESPN doesn't have any business filming me as I consume them.

I don't mind watching Poker on tv, but I don't really think it's a sport. While it does require you to be very knowledgable of the game, it doesn't require any physical movement...other than tossing in your chips.

No! Cant stand it.....
If its a sport, me and my 5 yr old should take tic tac toe to ESPN.
We'd be rich...

Bowling, Pool, ahhh now thats iffy, Bowling atleast theres a ball to sling, Pool, atleast theres ball's on the table..I dont want to come off Macho' by any means.
But the risk of injury or God forbid death raises the steaks to a SPORT. To me Poker, the dealer might need a shower after a 12 hr shift?
And he didnt win squat!

There are certain games of poker in which the player risks injury and death...
