Not who you think are the "Best" guitarists, just your favorite. And why, if you want.

Mine, in no particular order.

1. Kim Simmons- Savoy Brown
2. Jimmy Page
3. Terry Kath- Chicago '68-'78
4. Jimi Hendrix
5. Carlos Santana
6. Duane Allman and Dicky Betts- Allman Brothers
7. Eddie Van Halen
8. Peter Green and Danny Kirwin- FM
9. Frank Zappa
10. Richie Blackmore- Deep Purple and Rainbow

4 of favs on there...

Is that Duane ? I need glasses. Thanks also to Smashmouth98, I'm always looking for other guitarist to check out, I don't want anybody's list of favorites to match mine. I'm always looking for that Gem, new guitarist or music.

Any punk rock guitarist should qualify. They are amazing at their craft. Other guitar players could learn a things.

Lots of folks don't know who leo kottke is. Props to you sir. Sam Bush should get some props as well, but he may not qualify as "guitar."

All that metal, and no mention of Vai or Satriani?

I enjoy very little of Vai's stuff. Passion and Warfare and Alien love Secrets are the only albums I like. I like Satch, but for some reason his music sounds pretty generic to me. I think the guys I listed are truly unique and can all be spotted by just 1 or 2 notes of music.

I don't think anyone has mentioned these guys yet:

Nels Cline
Dickie Betts
Joe Bonamassa
Trey Anastasio
Jack White
