What was the first game you remember going to at TBA?
Mine was March 2nd, 1996 against Florida. I was 10 years old and even though we lost, I had a blast with my grandpa and remember Steve Hammer and how close and exciting the game was.
Mine was when we played USCe and Chism scored his career high (30 I believe) I forget the year but it was when Downey was at SC. I don't get to go to many games since I live in Lexington. I go to a lot of the UT vs UK games at Rupp though.
1992-93 season - men's and women's doubleheader against Alabama (I think). Men played the first game and got blasted; lady vols played the 'marquee' game and beat the $*%# out of their opponents. The contrast in how aggressive and hustling the women were compared to the men was pathetic. Glad to see things have changed...
Well my first game was in Stokley - 1977 - UT/UK - last game of the season - tied - winner takes SEC crown - triple OT - Ernie/Bernie - oranges thrown at Joe B - UT wins - hooked for life.
Pearl's last game vs. KY, great atmosphere (Houston's # was retired) and a good game. I've been to plenty of games in Rupp since I'm in Lexington. TBA is much nicer than the current Rupp, which is due for an upgrade soon.
My first game was in Stokely in 1971 or 2 against Oregon State. We won. Also saw a game against Miss. State that year. UT won. Saw many games in the Bernie/Ernie era and later as a student from 1979-1983 when Dale Ellis was there.
Not sure what the first game was I saw in TBA. May have been that Syracuse game that others have mentioned where Alan Houston got a scoring record in a 87-81 loss.
Wow. Some of you old timers lol. Pretty awesome! How was the atmosphere in Stokley compared to what you see now? I know there are more fans, technology and the uniforms shorts are longer lol but you get what i'm asking.
I went to some Lady Vols games back when Kara Lawson was playing, and probably some men's games that I don't remember, but my first men's game I remember was in the 2006-07 year. Went to almost if not all games that year, and distinctly remember the Texas game that year.
I don't remember much from the game, only that I was decked out in my bulls gear. Bulls cap with the straight bill and one of those old-school, high-sheen jackets with the stretchy polyester fabric on the collar, cuffs, and waist. Probably had on hammer style parachute pants or skids shorts. The early 90's were bad.
