OKLAHOMA CITY ― The Grizzlies' Tony Allen woke up Saturday with swelling around his eye as a result of contact with Oklahoma City's Caron Butler during Game 6, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. He was seeing a doctor Saturday in hopes of being able to recover enough to play Game 7 at 7 p.m. vs. the Thunder.
Allen left shootaround accompanied by two Grizzlies staff members. He was wearing dark, thick glasses. Head coach Dave Joerger provided few details. Here was the exchange:
Reporter: Can you tell us whats up with (Tony Allen)?
Joerger: Uh, no.
Reporter: Will he play tonight?
Joerger: Possibly.
When pressed further, Joerger said he was concerned about the situation entering Saturday night's Game 7 vs. the Thunder but would not elaborate on the nature of Allens condition, be it personal, health-related or otherwise.
My problem with this is, if KD and LJ are so much better than anyone else in the league, how come they can't play and be accountable for the same rule book? 'Cause they don't.
(I posted this, with GBO instead, before each vol basketball game towards the end of the season and it brought good luck. Hopefully, it will do the same for the grizz.)
