This election coming up is going to be big. For those of you that vote (yall are the only ones i want to hear from, because i think if you dont vote you lose your right to gripe) what is the single most important issue and why?

mine is education. A lot has to deal with the fact i am an educator. NCLB needs to be gone, it has good stuff in it like the literacy section, however completely standardizing tests and the teacher's job and pay on the results of that test is absurd. TO a certain point a teacher is to be held responsible, however standardized tests are not the way to determine the teacher's responsibility

taxes (Fair tax or a flat tax, outright elimination or reduction in size of the IRS)

social security (partial privatization, allow individuals to "opt out")

education (see the 10th Amendment, dissolve the NEA)

health care (no socialized medicine and no expansion of Medicare, Medicaid)

borders (seal them, through force if necessary)

oil independence (drill in ANWR and the Gulf of Mexico, stop exporting our own oil, build more refineries and nuclear power plants, tax credits to homeowners who switch from home heating oil to "greener" heat, aggressive development of new, oil-free technologies)

end the politically correct, "hands-off" and "look the other way" treatment of radical Islamic groups operating within the US.

Ban "American Idol" and other reality shows.

MG, thats is a great list. Our international trade practices is big with me right now too. By buying the the products from china that America can not complete with on cost is killing us and feeding the beast at the same time

Foriegn Policy, Immigration, and Education are my biggest concerns. Im more worried about the issues overseas if the wrong person gets in the white house. Immiration is an issue due to my location in the country, and well, I teach therefore I know the concerns in education. NCLB is crap. We have become enablers. Education used to be based on priniples that required students to perform well on EVERYTHING. Standardized tests and spreadsheets messed up our country if you ask me. We can keep NCLB though. Just change it to "No Chance Little Buddy" when they fail and make em repeat the grade instead placing so much time, money, and heartache on one test. Let us teach and give some responsibility back to the parents.

I am in the process of switching completely over into the Tax Field (retiring from my current love) so I would like to see numerous changes to taxes including the restoration of many taxes that Bush cut

I would like to see a complete overhaul on many Admin. posts that deal with foreign issues.

Completely (and I mean COMPLETELY) overhaul FEMA

Completely (and I mean COMPLETELY) go through Homeland Security and edge out the programs/systems/people that don't need to actually be there to take up time/space.

Put together a new process on Iraq from top to bottom as the current one is not working. We are seeing minimal success when we should be seeing much more. It is not good enough nor should we accept it. We went in with the wrong attitude towards Iraq and it has shown so far.....let's exit the correct way.

Jobs. I'm tired of seeing manufacturing go off shore. I'm a firm believer in hard mfg. being the backbone of the economy and we are constantly rewarding our companies for sending our economy oversees. On the Dem side, I have an appeal to Edwards on this issue. We are from the same areas. I am looking for my 4th job in 3 years because of this junk. I spent 15 years in a strong textile company that sold out to a Brazilian minor partner, and they immediately shut our doors and shipped our equipment south.
