Your Opinion of Coach Halzle's Performance

I hope the opinion is more than a glorified "Spotter" for Heupel up in the box. I feel he's also done wonders with our QB's (Hooker, Milton, Nico). Our INT's and ball control are the main reasons why I like him.

Have no idea what his responsibilty is. Does he call the plays? I know there was confusion on whether Heupel or Golesh called the plays when he was still at UT.

It was real-time collaboration for Josh and Alex. I think Alex was the one who physically passed the play to the red-blue-green guys to signal out to the QB, but Alex and Josh were in constant communication about what opportunities they were seeing and how to sculpt each series.

I assume the exact same thing is true for Josh and Joey. But don't know that for sure.

Josh is a really smart coach. He's developing future head coaches just like he's developing our players. A big part of that is letting the OC run the offense (while still keeping his voice engaged in setting the strategy and guiding both the OC and DC).

He adjusted to the D playing off our WRs and we ran it down their throat. In game adjustments matter and he at least passed the first test. We also know this is an in game collaboration with Heupel.

I'm not convinced any single person is always calling the plays. I believe Heupel is the final word but I'll bet Golesh had strong and respected input.

I'd not be surprised to see Halzle getting to "test drive" the play calling more against Austin Peay so Heupel can get a feel for his reads and insights.

I like that Heupel is secure enough to not have to say to the media: "I'm the man here and nobody calls plays except me."

I haven't seen anyone comment on how he handled his new role. Thoughts?
Made the in game adjustments.

Started Milton off with some easy throws to get him going. Long bomb was set up and executed perfectly by everyone but Keyton.

Realized UVA’s strategy and just begged them to stop it. Which they didn’t.

Let Nico get some quick throws in as well to build his confidence.

Other that the dry period in the first quarter, I felt everything went well.

Even though he doesn’t call the plays, he did have them prepared to execute the game plan.
Good first game in his new position…….

I think our OC will always be a rotating door. Hopefully Hazle will stay for a while, but after a few years if we have offensive success, which I’m sure we will, then another team will take a chance.

I think we're going to run the ball alot more than last year...which is good. UF will be a good test. Looking forward to seeing our D smash the Gators.

You have to remember his recruiting prowess also. Gets us in the door out west. With the PAC burning down now, we need to have a great presence out there.

We were too pass happy in the first half, IMO, and too many mid-length (10--25 yard) passes that we missed on, partly because
Uva was dropping back and thus made it difficult for us at times. How many times did we throw it to the TE? I remember the TD--and I think that
was it. Isn't Warren a good pass-catching weapon, or no? When we refocused on running the football, we rolled.

3rd time. 3rd time. Like in the Bible when things are mentioned many time pay attention.
