Mine was this past summer... "1 pitch strikeout"

it was over the summer, we're losing and the kid ont he other teams throwin like 91... freaking gas.. and it's the last inning and my friend kyle is up and they call a low strike and he gets mad and the ref warns him and then they call another reallly low strike and he argues and gets tossed, so i am the only sub that hasnt been used that game, and i go up without my cleats on, just shoes, and my jersey like untucked, and it's already no balls 2 strikes and he's throwing gas and throws a curveball and i check my swing and it's a strike and that's the ballgame...

others i've seen --> friend shot on the wrong goal in basketball (twice in one game)
another was when i was younger, the colon on the clock was messed up so it looked like 3.46 seconds instead of 3:46, so my friend threw up a 3/4 court shot with 3:45 left in the third quarter.

in freshman basketball, we were really good but 2 of the players hardly played, and it was the next to last game of the year and one person on the team hadn't scored.. so the whole 4th quarter we gave him the ball and he missed and missed and missed, and he finally got fouled on a shot and so we're all cheering and he COMPLETELY airballed both free throws.. i felt bad

that's all i've got for now...?

what about you all?

In HS, one of the bench guys was finally going to get to play. The coach told him to get to the scorers table. He thought he still had his warm-up on but he had taken it off in our locker room @ halftime. He stripped off the jersey and ran out onto the court full speed! Even the refs laughed.

As a sophomore I got into my first varsity soccer game vs. Karns, I played goalie. As I was going in the all-state keeper coming out said, "Don't screw up my shut-out." Thanks man. In the first 2 minutes I was in a very high ball came into the box. I called for it and went to punch it out. I hit the ball but connected with a guy from the other team and knocked him out cold. I thought I was going to get thrown off the team.

I also had my pic on the front page of the KNS sports section giving up the only goal in a 1-0 loss to Farragut to end our season. The guy scoring was one of my best friends too. Thanks Trevor!

I don't remember how old I was, but I was young. I would guess that I was in 3rd or 4th grade. In a basketball game, the tip-off came to me. I got all excited and wanted to do something with it. So I pulled it down, dribbled down the court and made a good looking layup. There was nobody around me and my first thought was that I was so fast that I smoked EVERYONE.

I was pretty proud until everyone started laughing at me for scoring 2 points for the other team.

Good learning experience though, I never did that again. I paid special attention to which basket was ours from then on out. In retrospect, I should've blamed it on the coaching..

Is it worse to shoot at the opponent's goal and make it or miss? I'd say miss since you screwed up twice in one play.

I missed a lay-up on the opponent's goal

I played 1st base in high school and I stretched out to snag an off target throw from SS and split my pants wide open, had to finish the game with my jacket tied around my waist.

I got picked off of first base in a Babe Ruth game in the 8th grade. Do you know how hard that is?

Guess I fell asleep.

I played with a fella in middle school who went to make the tag from the catcher on a stolen base, had the guy cold, but he snatched his glove down to make the tag and the ball drilled him in the temple and knocked him out. It was sorta scary at 1st but after he came to and we found out he was alright we horse laughed him , mocked in practice for the rest of the season.

I use to play LF my freshman year for our varsity, and I thought I was hot stuff cause I was the only freshman or sophmore for that matter to be on the varsity team. well very first game on the very first play i was stoked cause the batter had pulled the ball right towards left field and I thought it was all mine untill the ball went high enough for me to lose it in the sun and the next thing i knew, I had a big lump on my head and he got a tripple out of the play.

(p.s. the rest of the year never made an error...)

Warming up before a golf tournament, I had a shaft crack in the middle of my backswing and then completely break at impact right along the grip. It slashed my hand open and I bled all over the driving range. To this day, I'm still the only guy I know who had to withdraw from a golf tournament due to an injury while warming up.

That was pretty unlucky. :birgits_giggle:

freshman hs nose guard in a intersquad split colors game pre season. I slipped and fell during a middle screen as the oline guys blew past me, when I got up ...the tail back was beside me...and the ball was almost there...when he jumped straight up to catch it, I hit him and forced a punt by being in the right place , but still lookin like a goob. The upper class men were laughing their butts off smackin my helmet calling me butkus. I ran to the sideline and although it turned out well...I felt about 2 inches tall.

For me, it would have to be have been last year against Rutledge, I was pitchin and the catcher called a curve ball...went to go through my stride, throw the pitch, and when I pulled the string to get my rotation, my boxers split wide open.....Needless to say, I'm sportin me a pair of slidin shorts now LOL

I was playing hockey when I was younger, and since it was very young no one ever paid attention, well the goalie on my team was laying down becuase he got bored apparently, and some kid took a shot that ricoched(sp) off my skate and went back into our goal.

When I was in a Lacrosse scrimmage I was running down the field and a pass came, I thought it was in my stick so I was running, and then I go to take a shot and moved my neck, and the ball fell out of my chin guard of my helmet. (I decided to try to do this again and took a stick to the throat by a teammate in practice)

well let's see....there are two that i can think of...1st, when me and my brother were in like 4th and 6th grade, i'm the older brother, we both played in a soccer league, my team sucked. we didn't win a game all season.

the only thing worse than that was my brother's team. they not only lost every game, they went scoreless the entire season. ouch.

and for me, we were playing a rousing game of backyard football one day and i caught a kick off and started running (i'm a big guy, and was big kid, and had NO business returning kicks, even in byard football mind you) and a buddy of mine on the other team tried to tackle me, but couldn't. another guy grabbed on, but nothing...finally they grabbed my jersey to drag me down, i simply just leaned forward, turned aroudn backwards and backed out of the jersey, while holding on to the ball. And there i was running shirtless for a TD, belly jiggling the whole way!! :D

I got no props for the TD, but plenty of hell for the belly jiggle....

Oh man, so many backyard football stories.

We have some intense games, we'll get 11 on 11 with linemen on a real football field, its serious stuff.

I'll share this one about my little boy when he was playing youth league football in his second year. He was playing safety during a practice session against the first team offense. He had perfect coverage on a wide reciever and when the qb let it go, my boy was in perfect position to intercept it. But at the last second he leaned out of the way and the receiver caught it and ran for a td.

During the water break I leaned over the fence and asked him why he didn't catch that pass. He look at me like I was stupid and said serious as hell: "Dad, he wasn't throwing it to me. He was throwing it to Anthony."

Needless to say, everybody within earshot just roared!

Freshman football, I was 2nd string on the DL and was running out for some play in the 3rd quarter, and a ref pulled me because I didn't have a tailpad. I also played some LB, and because we had a 4-4 they wanted the LB's to be able to do some coverage so we were doing passing drills. I ran out to catch a ball but was kind of lazy on one reception, and the ball went through my hands in the same direction i was running. After one more step, I looked down to realize I was about to step on the ball but it was too late... My feet flew up in the air and I landed flat on my back. The last one, during warmups, we had to do backward summersaults for 20 yards. Well I got a big ol' head, which means a big ol' helmet and I couldn't quite get enough momentum to roll backwards with that thing on. I tried five times, and when my team mates were done laughing, one of them grabbed me by the ankles and started rolling me downfield.

Good times.
