Looks like Ben Nelson got free Medicaid for life for Nebraska. Guess who pays for that? Yep, we do.

States typically pay a significant portion of Medicaid but Dem holdouts Sanders (VT), Landrieu (LA) and now Nelson (NB) got the feds (us) to pay for it in return for their votes on this BS bill.

What a farce.

I guess these clowns in the DNC don't seem to care that the majority of American people don't want their "health reform".

Oh well, I can only pray that all these idiots and their head idiot Obama are sent packing in 2010 and 2012.

Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you.

I'm sick.

and we thought the republicans were spending money like drunk Shriners at a Las Vegas strip club.

at this point, a 400 billion dollar budget deficit seems to be almost Clark Howard-like in it's frugality.

I hope the 52.6% that voted this garbage in is proud of what they've done.

I think the Democrats will suffer huge losses, but to what? I mean honestly the Republicans have been so friggin' mediocre in recent years I don't look for the country to be much approved even if they had 2/3 majority in both houses to over ride all vetoes. Even then they'd figure out a way to cower to the Democrats and not get anything passed. This current batch of politicians are seriously going to spend us to bankruptcy and there is not a damn thing we can do about it.

This just goes to show you dems don't have any principles at all. They will sellout to the highest bidder. I was naive enough to believe that Nelson and Lieberman had enough principle to stand up against this crap, but they fooled me. But I guess that is one quality that makes them dems. I can't wait til 2010 when we throw them out.

Should be criminal. They really don't care what the American people want. They have a agenda and a limited time to see it through. Full speed ahead unfortunately.

Based on the current attitude from our Imperial Federal Government, I believe the current version would read something like: "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what your government intends to do to you." BOHICA. :pinch:

this is what is to come. if a senator doesn't like the bill, he'll just have the senate leader give about $500,000,000 for his vote.

my question is how much will these guys pay for the vote. 300,000,000 is the highest price as of now. i'm actually suprised that nelson only got 100 million for his vote. i'm sure he could have gotten 500 mil or 700 mil.

guys it's over, our country is done

I hate to agree with you on this but I don't see any evidence to disagree with your opinion. The dems are pathetic, I can't stand any of them, they are worthless. Even if fiscal conservatives took over in 2010, I think it may be too late. As I said in an earlier post they dems don't have any principles, they are corrupt and every vote is for sale.

I agree with everything you said except replace dems with the word politicians.

Nah, I am standing by the word dems. No true conservative would sell their vote, that have standards, morals and principles. Dems have none of these qualitities, now some RINOs don't either.

The majority of politicians are trash. You might be able to name a handful of decent people but you can't name too many people in Washington that have morals and principles. I think you might find more good people on the right but at best they're just the lesser of two evils.

So I would guess that Nebraska becomes an absolute magnet for people wanting to set up fraudulent Medicaid operations as well as a great state to retire to if you need medical help and cannot afford it.

This may be what sinks the ship. I do not see how exempting a state from increased Medicare taxes doesn't run afoul of Article 1, Sec. 8, Part 1 of the US Constitution "The congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;".

The next time the dems give a damn about what is in the constitution will be the first time.

Whether or not that is accurate, I'm just saying that this is fundamental, black letter stuff and I doubt that the U.S. Supreme Court is going to uphold the carve-outs when the inevitable court challenge comes. Without the carve-outs, there is no deal.

I am sure that 4 of them will uphold it, it will be up to Kennedy to determine the outcome.
