Might be a good hire, but don't understand why he would tell Hinshaw to get steppin for this guy. Meyer says he is a good recruiter however didnt take him to tOSU with him

Meyer was out of coaching for a year. This guy got another job.

In the past 10 years, Azzanni has been called a “relentless” recruiter by Urban Meyer. He has most notably been a staple in the recruiting areas of the state of Florida, in particular the Miami/Fort Lauderdale areas.[3]

Was hired at Wisconsin after urban was hired

true however meyer had a guy that has been in meyers system for 5 years and knows how meyer wants it taught. point being most coaches take people who can teach there system the best not always the best recruiter or coach.

That's straight from Wikipedia, it's just coach speak. Urban didn't try to hire him at OSU, Bielema isn't taking him to Arkansas and Muschamp didn't keep him at Florida. The only time he recruited South Florida was his one year at Florida. He didn't recruit Florida when he was at Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Western Kentucky or Wisconsin. Would not be a good hire imo and honestly I don't think CBJ has offered him. I could be wrong but if true it would be a disappointing hire. I think he's a good position coach but we have to have a dynamic recruiter with this hire and he's not it.

Urban hired a guy that was a GA at florida over his full time WR coach there.

Urban Meyer hires Zach Azzanni as Gators' wide receivers coach | jacksonville.com

This is the article where Meyer references him as a recruiter. Just in case people were looking for the source of the quote.

That's exactly what you would expect Urban to say when he is hiring the guy. The same could be said about about basically every assistant coach in college football. If he was a great recruiter he wouldn't keep bouncing around from school to school. Someone would have locked him down or at least attempted. At Florida in 2010 he wasn't credited with getting any of their commitments. This years class at Wisconsin he is credited for getting two 3 star players. Hinshaw runs circles around this guy.

On a side note I see we're down to 31 on Rivals. We need a big commitment in the worst way right now. I really hope someone pulls the trigger for us before the quite period starts.....and how is Ferguson a 3 star? That's flippin ridiculous

seems like a great hire...someone that can recruit in FL...big plus

That was my original question. I would think Hinshaw would have more contacts in FL, so Im not seeing the upgrade here. Does anyone know if we still owe Hinshaw money?
