The 17-year-old right-handed pitcher chose the Vols over a scholarship offer from Georgia Tech.

His fastball has clocked as high as 93 miles per hour, and he is still months away from the start of his junior season.

"I really like both programs, and I really liked the coaches at both places," said Linginfelter. "I just felt like Tennessee is the best place for me, being from around here locally. I've grown up around it my whole life.

In 50 1/3 innings, Linginfelter struck out 62, walked 39 and allowed 34 hits last season. He was 5-2 with one save and a 3.06 ERA.

He throws 2- and 4-seam fastballs, a curveball and a change-up, and displayed those pitches in front of plenty of scouts during the summer.

Well this is the baseball forum. So, one would think common sense would make this differentiation.

THANK YOU!

I never understood why someone would want to make a post admitting they were ignorant.

I can understand making a mistake thinking this was about football. But to then make a post than makes one look completely retarded.

I went to HS with his Dad and Uncles. When Tony threw a pass, you did not want to catch it in your gut.

Spell the name right, it's LINGINFELTER.

His dad is the current head coach of the Sevier County football program, was a longtime assistant.
