Not too shabby.

Mashack was most definitely snubbed, but it is what it is. I guess being a top 5 defender means nothing and being a highly ranked high school player means more.

Also for reference the Indiana team we just scrimmaged had three…

#19 ranked Oumar Ballo
#44 ranked Malik Reneau
#62 ranked Myles Rice

Also worth noting there are a ton of SEC players on this list. I don’t care to count, but it looked like a third of this list was made up of SEC players.

(Edit I just counted and was way off lol... there are about 18 SEC players on there.)

Here's how much stock to put in a media rating of Top 100! LOL ... Here's CBS from last year before the Season ...

... Some strong foresight here folks, LOL ...

How was Mashack snubbed? He has never even been a starter. Not even preseason All SEC (which means not seen at top 15 in the conference) but you think he's top 100 nationally? Mashack is a good player and we expect a lot from him but at this point he's not even an NBA prospect. he's averaged less than 4 points a game for his career.

About the Indiana team I thought the game thread on that was hilarious.. people didn't realize how talented and highly touted that team was. They are top 20 in most preseason polls.

They base these off past accomplishments as they should.. you cant just hope someone is gonna have a breakout season. Knecht was snubbed no one saw him coming.. period. not him not UT fans no Barnes. People figured he'd be good.. not close to what he was. I love how people act like they did. ORN made a business decision going to that Michigan team and he did put up career numbers there.. numbers he wouldn't have here. Sadly it wasn't a good business decision and that team was epically bad.

I kinda get your rant.. but going off past accomplishments I'll take a guy averaging 35.3ppg in D1 over most kids coming straight out of high school.

Who was averaging 35.3 a game? I am fairly sure I didn't mention Austin Car the last college player to do that in 1971. Who is coming out of high school? you obviously didn't get my rant because none of those were covered. No player in college basketball has even averaged even 30 a game since 2019.

Mashack is a lot like Bronny a good player that averages around 4 and is known for his defense. Too bad he doesn't have a Mashack senior that is a player/quasi owner of an NBA franchise, or he would fit in as an NBA player 😜 I kid, I kid

Comparing the 2 is an insult to Mashack IMHO. Mashack is a blue collar hard worker who is not currently an NBA prospect but, if he can show some offensive evolution could open some eyes because he has a great physical makeup and is a tremendous defender. Bronny is, in my opinion, a decent NBA prospect with good family in the right places. I don't put it past him doing ok in the league but most people with his resume wouldn't have gotten the chance. he has no excuse not to succeed outside of his heart issue he has everything in place Mashack has worked for everything he's gotten.

Andy Katz has him ranked as the best 11th best defender in the country. His offensive game has improved every year and supposedly has made a big jump this offseason. Very likely to see him shoot around 38-40% from three. He very much could be a 3 & D player at the next level similar to J-Rich.

You said he's never been a starter, but they list freshman that have never even played a game so this means the list is based on hypotheticals. He will be a starter for the first time just like them.

Incorrect they use their resume from high school. That is a track record. It is a lot more likely a high school kid that came in averaging 20+ points a game will do well compared to someone that's already played 3 years and hasn't cracked 5 yet. The second person has already had their chance to do the thing. You use evidence to project.

Lets use an example. I am Putting out a list of dads in the neighborhood least likely to cheat on their wives. I have 1 spot left and the 2 candidates are a new Dad who though young has a track record of faithfulness. On the other hand I have Dad 2 who is on his second wife and has 3 baby mamma's. He has turned over another leaf, went to counseling and joined a church. Sorry I'm putting the young guy on the list. Both will probably cheat because that hot soccer mom in the culdesac is on the prowl but I'm putting my money on the guy that hasn't slipped yet.

Let's use an example that actually relates to basketball...

The NBA top 100 list

97th: Herb Jones - 11 ppg
85th: Luguentz Dort - 11 ppg
77th: Jaden McDaniels - 10.5 ppg
62nd: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - 10 ppg
59th: Alex Caruso - 10 ppg
36th Jrue Holiday - 12.5 ppg

All of these guys besides Jrue didn't even crack the top 150 in ppg. They aren't scorers, but elite defenders just like Mashack.
